my advice? don't pull any of the dead leaves off, the plant can still draw extra energy through the petiole to help it recover. put it OUTSIDE the window where it will get about the same amount of sunlight and drench it for 20 minutes with a hose then leave it alone for a week and let it recover.

also, do you know the taxonomical name and your heat zone??? this would help

i know! when i talk to y'all it's the right decision. but, i have a baaaad co-dependence issue. besides, i am a hopeless optimist when it comes to my relationship. i keep thinking it will get better. oh, here's a good story. yesterday i told him i didn't care whether his son likied 2% milk or not and he proceeded to yell and curse at me about "disrespecting his son" infront of the entire walmart parking lot. people were staring.

Vig, pretty as you are, you could have any man you choose. This man sounds like he's just a few steps from becoming abusive. Danger! And, if you hold the lease, you can get a restraining order... As far as being co-dependant, find a friend you can lean on for a bit...

cool. now look up species specific info on calomondin and see if it can survive in your heat zone. i could look up your heat zone if you don't know how...just give me your location. citrus typically do better in humid subtropical and similar conditions...

edit- looks like you have Citrofortunella microcarpa

hdh, yeah your story reminded me of my own.

jim, yes it is teetering on the edge of abuse. it reminds so much of an abusive relationship i had many years ago.

i wouldn't be able to do the rent payments on my own.

and i don't like being single b/c i do very self destructive things. but, this is destructive as well.
    i'm lost. that's all i can say.

and as far as finding someone else. i simply don't want anyone else. he is it for me. it's sick. i know.

Vig - he sounds like such a big freakin douche! I know we would never get the full picture via the net... but frig girl. Get rid of him and his son. I accept the codependence thing... but go to the next (what do you call them? The parties you like to go to? Frig... it's on the tip of my tongue) and start dancing all sexy (wtihout bf there) and get yourself a new man. If that's what you need to move away from this guy, then do it! Normally I dont suggest to people to bounce from one to another, but if you need to, then do it. Imagine how much worse things would be if there was a baby mixed up in this? Run girl!!

NP - you truly do amaze me with your wide ranging knowledge on random items. Who knew you were a hobby botanist? lol

    Congrats Sprout!

Could you not move back with the parents or is that a major step back?

The first step is admitting you have a problem, which you've just done. If you don't get out, it will escalate. Abusive relationships never end well, but they do end. And stop making silly excuses. Roommates. When you are ready to get out, we will all be right here.
Some of us are a bit grumpy, but its a good place to vent... Good luck pretty lady.

    lol thanks

actually i spent the first 19 years of my life in the woods growing my own gardens, growing bonsai, planting orchards, cultivating native species...besides working in plant nurseries and wholesale distributors... i have no prob answering horticultural questions if i can help!:cheers2:

edit-forgot to say that your hardiness zone looks good. try to leave it out during summer and when it gets below 20 degrees !F! or even 30 bring it inside...

the reason i thought the map would help is because sometimes wholesalers will ship plants all over the world-even to places where the plant can't actually grow. example, a japanese red maple (acer rubrum atropurpureum) can NOT survive in texas for more than a season unless you grow it in a freezer...but year after year they keep showing up in nurseries looking lush and healthy...only to die within a few weeks of being here in texas...

see, i don't want to live my parents. but, they would always welcome me back.
and i wouldn't kick him out of the house, b/c that's just not my nature.
roommates is a good idea. but, alas, i has no friends. none.

You do not need friends to have roommates... that's how you make friends. :) You borrow theirs.

NP - I worked in a greenhouse one summer. I realized that I knew absolutely nothing about gardening and plants. I'm far from an expert but at least I know verbena from coleus. lol
