what are you drinking tonight?

well....its a bottle, not a can, but it does have a good design and is a wonderful beer. its one of my all time favorite IPAs along with dogfish head 90 minute IPA and avatar jasmine ipa (and of course samuel smith's india ale)

today i got some money from my dear old uncle sam, so i immediately went out and blew about a hundred bucks on booze and cigars.

got a new can of butane for my cigar lighter and three cigars for around 30 bucks....

an AVO Pyramid (smoking it now, exquisite mild cigar), a slender belicoso/torpedo/pyramid by Opus X (forget what the size name is), and a Macanudo Prince Phillip.

also bought a bottle of a single malt scotch i'd never tried before - Dalwhinnie 15 year...its good, but a bit milder than i'd hoped for. i dont know my scotch too well yet, still learning, so its ok. its good though, smooth and delicious, just not as full bodied and smoky as i'd hoped.

i'm currently drinking a bomber of Flying Dog Collaborator Doppelbock, and its one of the best doppelbocks i've had, but at nearly 15 dollars for a bottle its more expensive than i feel it's worth. very, very good, but about 5 bucks too expensive. still, its a great doppelbock, with just enough bitterness to balance out the candylike flavors of the malt...mmm....tastes like bittersweet caramel :drool:

i also have a bottle of samuel smith's oatmeal stout, but since i dont have to work until 5PM tomorrow, i may save that for breakfast

oh, and i have a ton of cheap beer. bought a 15er of stroh's last night (one of my favorite cheap cheap beers, i actually enjoy drinking it, and the price is great. still, i wish we got yeungling here, its way better even though its slightly pricier. i'd actually spend far less on beer if i could get yeungling where i live )

Last night was my cousins birthday, got to the bar around 11:30 and stayed until close. Dead Guy on draft, Tellumore Dew, Black Label, something, another something, and I forget what else.

 

well i got home about an hour and a half ago....smoked a bowl, now i just finished my second glass of scotch, and i'm on the tail end of a VERY very nice, VERY strong cigar....

i'll soon have a beer. more cheap beer tonight....1-3 before bed probably

whew, tonight i got a liter of jägermeister at my disposal. i've had a few shots, but i wont come anywhere close to finishing it i'm sure.

mostly cause i'm smoking too, and also i bought two 24oz cans of PBR. i wanted pbr specifically....was hoping for a six pack....but the UDF only had the tallboys. its ok, i still get what i wanted, and it was super affordable

i also have lot of scotch left, and a 12oz can of stroh's

 

Eww, I dont know how you guys can drink jager. I've had it a couple of times, it's too thick, too sweet, yucky.

yeah, its thick, and its sweet....actually if i'm not mistaken its supposed to be medicinal....used to treat any number of things, but essentially originally like a cough syrup or something....

in my opinion the bitterness of the herbal elements balances out the sweet-syrupy aspect...

but i can't just drink it endlessly. but it is very tasty in my opinion.

for me, its not a matter of being able to drink jager, its a matter of being able to drink red bull....gross!

i did drink one can of redbull tonight with some jager. did the trick. but i usually hat red bull and jagerbombs, so it will be a very long time before i do that again most likely.

i would much rather have just jager.

Sailor Jerry Spiced Navy Rum..trying out different rums right now, this ones pretty cheap for the amount you get. Has a hint of cherry and some woody flavor,and a little more spice than say Captain Morgans but not as sweet. At 92 proof it is better with Coke than straight. Good for getting a bit drunk.

cherry and caramel, sweet, but you're right, its much stronger and less sweet than captain morgans. this is precisely why i never buy captain morgans and ONLY purchase sailor jerry's when i buy spiced rum (after many, many bottles of it i rarely drink it anymore except on occasion)

its still very sweet, and rum is a rather sweet liquor to begin with.

every bottle has a different picture on the back label facing in. as you drain the bottle of rum, the picture becomes visible.

i think there are like 5 different pictures? maybe six. maybe i never really found out and theres actually some more.

but i had a collection of all the different bottle prints i could find. it took a while to get, almost a year of buying it often!

anyway, its a bit too sweet for me as well as strong enough to make it hard for me to drink straight some nights.

they aren't kidding when they say it mixes well with red grapefruit juice. the sweet and slightly spicy character of it, along with the hint of cherry, mix wonderfully with the grapefruit juice. and remember, it is pretty sweet rum though less so than captain morgans (which is only like 35% alcohol by volume, if i'm not mistaken)

for rums i tend to like dark rums if i'm going cheaper, aged rums if i'm going for more pricy.

i would consider cruzan's black strap navy rum a best buy.

its dark as can be, sweet, smooth, 80 proof, and a whole liter costs like 13 bucks here. its a bargain, and is probably my hands down favorite for mixing with coke, and its even suitable for drinking straight.

i also think meyer's dark and gosling black seal are decent rums for under 20 a fifth. round here both are about 15.

pyrat xo is very good in my opinion. i've seen it for sale for around as high as 50 dollar for a fifth in some cities, and online.

in my town i can get this stuff for 25 bucks anywhere i buy it -i have no clue why. but if you dont live where its really expensive, you should try it. i really love this stuff, but maybe its cause i get a good price on it.

also not a bad bottle for the price are appleton estate v/x (close to 20 a bottle) and bacardi 8 (ditto, and one of the few bacardi products i'll buy)

avoid white rum like the plague, as well as anything under 80 proof.

yesterday afternoon i bought a pint of seagrams gin....so i had inexpensive gin yesterday.

tonight...i dunno, i have good weed, so i really dont need much alcohol. i'll probably pick up a 24 of heinekin or something else equally cheap or else cheaper.

i've been doing decently well with saving money. i ought to try to continue doing so.
