Ah, the 'wife beater' ;-)) Yep, it had this derogatory name given to it in the UK. It was supposed to be full of chemicals that made people aggressive when they drank it. I believe the marketing department went in to tail spin when the coined phrase actually stuck. They had spent a lot of money trying to convince the public that Stella was a premium product.
A bit later, hours from now, when the sun starts to rise I will no doubt salute those rays, and Wednesday morning with a horn full of mead to almighty Wotan!
I have been enjoying my vacation from work with some beers this week. Tonight I am drinking one of my top five favorite beers of all time: Southern Tier's Pumking Imperial Pumpkin Ale. The pumpkin beers seem to be coming out earlier and earlier each year, since we're not even into August yet. It's been a year or two since I've had this, having only recently started drinking beer again (albeit on rare occasions), but I remember this beer always being a bit different from year to year. I remember my favorite years for this seasonal being probably around 2008-09. Some years seem to be more pumpkin / pie crust dominated, whereas other years have been more spice dominated. This years seems to be somewhere in the middle. I don't remember it ever being quite as good since its inception in the late 2000s, but it is still one incredibly tasty beer. At 8.6% ABV, a single bomber of this beer is more than enough for me.
Decided to have one more beer after the bomber of Pumking since I have such a nice buzz going. Decided to give this Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin IPA a try. Some IPAs have a rather juicy, citrusy, grapefruit-like flavor due to the hops that are used. This beer utilizes such hops, then incorporates actual grapefruit into the brew, which combines with the hops to create this really nice, super smooth citrus flavor. This just may be one of my new favorite beers. And yes, many high-quality craft beers are now being sold in cans.
Good lord why? This is what I drink when I run out of tums and my acid reflux acts up. I almost puke trying to get it down every time.
