I read it back in the late 70's when I was in my early 20's. I wonder what subtle differences there might be in my present life or at least my world view if I hadn't read it at that point in my life? I'm sure the book had a definite influence on me. At that time there wasn't a huge amount of serious writing on the topic of psychedelics available. I think I re-read it maybe 10 - 15 years later. I wonder what happened to those English intellectuals of Huxley's calibre? Virtually an extinct species nowadays I'm afraid to say.
King's horrors I prefer reading reviews or any articles to reading books IMAO. If someone interested in I used to visit PapersBattle.com to read some interesting reviews from other people.. Here is my strange desire After all I have been already read too many books so I wanted to change my hobbies.
Differences between women and men and ancient humans, from what I can tell. A flounder advising an early man and telling him to stop being dominated by the women. I'm not finding it a particularly easy read, but it's compelling all the same. I'm not someone who doesn't abandon a book if I don't think it's worth my time, and I haven't done that. It's told as if the man has been lots of men.. kind of like he's telling all his past life times. It mentions food a lot in a rather strange tone.. kind of obsessive sounding. I don't know. I might just not be understanding it at all.
Would you say you're just floundering your way through it? Hehe. I'm the same about not giving up on a book
HAAA, yes, floundering my way through it, exactly right. But no, I worded it clumsily, I do give up if I think it's not at least somewhat worthwhile. I know most people say they can't do that.. but life's too short for that in my opinion.
It's like.. "her breasts dripping over the fish stew".. It's peculiar. Intriguing enough. I think it's probably a bit too clever for me. Maybe I will understand better as I read more. I'm bad at explaining my thoughts about things like this.
In the book Rant by Chuck Palahinuk, the main character (male) can guess what food a woman most recently had by performing oral sex on her.
