I just read "To Have And Have Not" by Hemingway and I've just started "Shame" by Salman Rushdie.

 

I am reading the options on how to get to travel with the train in the Netherlands without getting ripped off. Yesterday was the last day we could travel by train with a paper ticket... Now we have to buy chip cards on which you need to have at least €20... Fuckers! Screw this shit, I'm buying a car. Well... not today. Have to travel though Fucking bandits.

is that the case only for trams or for trains as well? Say, as a foreigner I stranded in Rotterdam somehow and wanted to go to Nijmegen by train. Do I have to buy a chip card? What if I want to sneak out of the country then? Do I still have a shiny new chip card, which I can show my friends and brag with it ? Oh, and what about the strippen card that I have in my wallet?
