I downoaded a new band named "nails" the other night. It's pretty fast and heavy if you like metal.

There is this group from Toronto called Trust, which makes this really heavy but emotive and melodic, EBM-inflused darkwave synth pop that calls to mind the late 80s/early 90s goth club scene. The album TRST, their debut, came out last year. I hear elements of Depeche Mode, DAF, Moev and other such groups. It is indeed hipster music, and at times you almost have to wonder if they're being ironic or it's some kind of parody, but the melodies and beats here are really fucking good.

I don't know WTF that is on the album cover.

Kind of old-school at this point, but an excellent album nevertheless.

 

there is a kind of programing called u.t.a.u., which makes computers sing with human sounding voices. it has become itself something of an art form. i consider it superior to either country or rap, (and probably most of commercial media, though i don't listen to THAT often enough to know) though not to ambient non-vocal textures.

erratic is one of the artists of it, though i'm sure there are others nearly as good.

Thats a little scary really, but probably where we are headed

You dont need pop stars or talent, everything can be programmed on a lap top by one nerd

 

They were doing this before the software was available, they just did it by inserting the individual words into the recording manually.
The sound still begins with a real voice recorded by a microphone, the software just makes it easier to put all the chopped up words together.
Perfect for that choppy effect they get from the 7 frames-per- second anime garbage...
