I refuse to listen to anything but 60s/70s/some 80s. I just don't feel a special connection between the music and me with the more modern stuff
Most songs are universal for almost any time period. Love->New Love->Lost Love->Old Love->Lasting Love etc... Angst and not being understood and being a teenager are also quite common
i mean yeah, there is some stuff i do like from modern day stuff, but i just get something (a good feeling or something) out of listening to classic rock
Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incident, Medeski/Martin/Wood, Gov't Mule, Galactic, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, Matisyahu, Phish, Ratdog, Soullive, Umphrey's McGee, Keller Williams, Particle, John Butler Trio, North Mississippi Allstars, John Popper Project, Moe., The Disco Biscuits, Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon's new project, I could keep going................theirs a whole world of unbelievable music out there, you just gotta tap it. If your not feelin me, go to a phesty sometime...........you'll catch the vibe.
whatever happened to music ..........simon cowell lrock on zepplin long live thestones charlie watts awesme drummer
who cares about that music... the real stuff is CAN, Camel, Ash Ra Tempel, Gong, Acid Mother Temple...
When I listen to today's music I hear alot of anger and alot of partying behavior. Most of society today are into alot of what they call "hardcore" stuff and they don't give any other style a music a chance. They think if they listen to something alot more musical like classical that it will ruin their reputation.
hehe yea.,. i know those bands were great but stil.. there are MANY others.. Gong is great indeed. I love their Pothead Pixies albums.. from Flying Teapot to You.. great albums, one of their best songs from their early album though.. "fohat digs holes in space"
cool man ihave a very varied taste in music i love some of the early roxy with brian eno and david byrne of talking heads fame you gotta open your self up to it god when im doin my housework dont mind a bit of classical if im honest peace
i agree the music of earlyer years was alot more meaningfull and easyer to listen to then that of today..but there is stuff out there, i am a fan of a modern day band "oasis" some call them the beatles of our generation or whatever.. my opinion there is no better music than that of the 60's and 70's but as far as today goes oasis and bands of that nature are ware its at..
this new age wanna be cool bands, such as lets say this new found glory and fall out boy crap, they are the exact same music, no feeling, no anguish. what happened to breathe, breathe in the air? come on i mean these new bands all they do is bitch and moan about how they lost their girlfriends becuz they dont have a job. shut the hell up im tired of listening to you people talk about stuff that is irelevant to music, music is floyd, the beatles, led zeppelin, the doors, strawberry alarm clock, compared to this new age bullshit, jimmy page is a god. love peace and chicken grease
You do realize there was tons of shit back in the 60s and 70s. In fact, I'd go so far as to say the huge majority of it was shit. Just like today. But hundreds of amazing bands have emerged from this fetid pile, with RATM topping the list.
