I refuse to listen to anything but 60s/70s/some 80s. I just don't feel a special connection between the music and me with the more modern stuff

there is so much music from now-a-days that you can relate completely to 60s & 70s rock/jam.

Most songs are universal for almost any time period. Love->New Love->Lost Love->Old Love->Lasting Love etc...

Angst and not being understood and being a teenager are also quite common

When I listen to today's music I hear alot of anger and alot of partying behavior. Most of society today are into alot of what they call "hardcore" stuff and they don't give any other style a music a chance. They think if they listen to something alot more musical like classical that it will ruin their reputation.

i agree the music of earlyer years was alot more meaningfull and easyer to listen to then that of today..but there is stuff out there, i am a fan of a modern day band "oasis" some call them the beatles of our generation or whatever.. my opinion there is no better music than that of the 60's and 70's but as far as today goes oasis and bands of that nature are ware its at..

this new age wanna be cool bands, such as lets say this new found glory and fall out boy crap, they are the exact same music, no feeling, no anguish. what happened to breathe, breathe in the air? come on i mean these new bands all they do is bitch and moan about how they lost their girlfriends becuz they dont have a job. shut the hell up im tired of listening to you people talk about stuff that is irelevant to music, music is floyd, the beatles, led zeppelin, the doors, strawberry alarm clock, compared to this new age bullshit, jimmy page is a god.

    love peace and chicken grease

You do realize there was tons of shit back in the 60s and 70s. In fact, I'd go so far as to say the huge majority of it was shit.

Just like today. But hundreds of amazing bands have emerged from this fetid pile, with RATM topping the list.
