West-Coast Hipforums gathering 2006?

Not necessarily, it's just a question. I'm not running this thing, just trying to keep it moving along.

 

As with other gatherings that have been attempted in the past, for the safety of those wishing to attend, I don't think anyone should object to making the location unknown to the general public.

THose that do not want to post that they want to attend should send a PM to one of those that has said they ARE attending. We'll fill them in as we go along. But considering recent events, I for one do not feel comfortable leaving the location of this gathering out in public for any unwelcome person to know. We will most likely have small children present (if Boogabaah brings hers and I bring mine...) so I just want to make sure that we're all safe, especially the kiddies.

 

yep, i plan on bringing my 3. they'll be 9, 7 and 4 by then though..

there was some abuse of members by someone claiming to be a very in-depth member of rainbow. Inviting them into her home and then verbally abusing them in PM, email, and publically on the forums. This person knows personal information about those that have been abused and it would be preferable to keep information on everyone and the gathering as hard to find as possible.

We don't mean the weird personalities. We are all weird. We just don't want the negativity.

Hey this totally sounds like a groovin' idea. I will mention to Drew if there does end up being a hip-forums gathering. Is anyone inparticular planning this event yet, or are we just sprouting ideas? I hope if the dates corrispond correctly that the highway child can make it out.

 

I guess there is going to be a team of us making decisions purely based on group yays or neighs....Please, feel free to offer suggestions or help in decision making....pass the link around the forums...so we can make this pretty big

Yeah good idea...I have the link to this thread in my signature and if everyone on this thread did the same then it could really help expand awareness of the gathering.

 

Okay, so instead of this thread dying, why don't we take action, and send out PMs to west coast forumers that we know that aren't on regularly to let them know what's happening? Any names? suggestions?

Okay... So where is this taking place?

 

We don't know....Somewhere excessible to 1-5 and easy to find, around the center or south end of Oregon, able to comfortably accomodate 30 people, plumbing and water (for the babies), and not too expensive.

Any ideas?

I haven't camped in OR before, so I don't have any suggestions. But I am registered with the WA and OR camping reservations system, so I could help reserve something when we decide on a place, if needed. When I get the time I will look through the websites above and see if we can narrow it down alittle.

 

I just sent an email to the Oregon Parks Office requesting help in finding a suitable park/campsite to host a 30-50 person gathering. Told them all the specifics.

We'll see what they come up with.

 

How'd I miss this thread? Hmm.. Anyhow, I'd be interested in coming, if Y'all will have me.
I can't say for sure I'd make it, because I don't know what I have going on in August just yet(the wife and I own a belly dance studio, and we sometimes book performances on short notice), but I'd really like to make it.
