An early bloomer story. One of my cousins started getting boobs in 4th grade, she got her period around then, too, and really developed into a womyn very young (but was really naive, emotionally, and psychologically and still is, at 43, now.) I once was a "visitor" at her High School, when she was a freshwomyn and I was a junior. Some guys were just awful, yelling, "Hey, JUGGS!" and "Gimme some, baby!" at her. I gave them a little talk, (lol) and they let her be for a while. (I'm little, barely 5 ft tall, but when someone I love is being hurt, I, um, get my point across.) But, she said she always felt awful about being so big so young.

I was definitely an early bloomer. I stated my period 2 months after my 9th birthday, and started 6th grade with C cup breasts. My little sister is having the same issue you are with her breasts. She's 15 and she's constantly calling me and coming over wanting to talk about her boobs. She doesn't understand why her sister has huge breasts and she barely needs a training bra. I know telling you that once you get them, you'll wonder why you wanted them so badly doesn't help(although in a lot of women, that turns out to be the case). So I'll tell you the same thing I tell her. You have a beautiful body, exactly what god intended for you at this tine im your life. The standards of beauty in this country are skewed. I my opinion, large breasts don't make you any more or less attractive. The problem is it's a 2 edged knife. If you do have large breasts, many people consider you to be more attractive, but many of those same people look at large breasts and think "airhead" or "slut". Would you rather have people see you for who you are, or for what cup size you wear?

I was in the middle I suppose. I started my period on my 13th birthday...happy freaking birthday! Like many of the women have already stated don't let those bitches get you down. Boobs or not, your a much better person then they are.

Average. I got my period when I was 12 but I didn't really get boobs until I was 14. It does get on my nerves when my friends make fun of my small boobs...<_<;; Bitches.

    A word of advice,
No matter what the situation, they will continously tease you as long as you respond to it by letting it affect your feelings. Once you stop caring, they will stop teasing.

Yeah, i do have some pubic hair but didn't start getting in until i was 13. I just turned 15 about a month a half ago so it will be a while until i turn 16. i do not know if i would be considered normal weight or not. i weigh like 90 pounds and i am about 5 feet tall. I would talk to my mom about seeing a doc, but i would be so embarrassed! i do not know how i would go about bringing that up in conversation. We don't usually talk about that sorta thing. Although she probably has an idea what is going on since my lil sis is in bras and i am not. Thanks for telling me about your daughter. I feel better. i do not think i want to end up with breasts as big as hers though!

Thanks Jedi. I'll try not to let them see it bothers me.

yeah, not caring about their idiot behavior is a great idea. also, you're blooming at a perfectly normal rate. i got boobs and pubes before i got regular periods. my period was a couple years behind (aside from occaisional bleeding from age 10). you sound like you're right on track to me.

I was a B cup by the 4th grade. Bye 5th I had a C cup and my period. I went to a catholice private school and was put thruogh hell. The girls/ got in mt back pack and threw my personals on the ground which caught me hell from both the boys and the girls. That and the big boobs were a bad combo. By 8th grade I was into a D cup and that just added to the hell I lived in. Not to mention that to this day theperiods are overly painful and heavy. By 9th grade I was a DD cup and so far there I have stayed. I am very curvy and I am plump and the periods still suck bad, and yes like some of you have mentioned the boobs started to sag at about the time I hit a D cup.
In a way you are luck not to have gone through this yet. But i can understand what you are going through my friend went through the same thing and she got a lot of crap over it.

I started having my period when I was 11--and I think my chest started developing right around the same time--but for the most part, I don't recall being teased for it--I guess because it took a while for my breasts to develop--they didn't develop overnight, if you know what I mean! FunnyValentine, I wouldn't worry too much about being a late bloomer--there's a lot of people on this planet who hit puberty late--but it wouldn't be a bad idea to have it checked out if nothing continues to happen! And as far as being worried about the size of your breasts, don't worry about that either--there's a lot of small-breasted women out there! As for my bra size, I wear a 40C! There's days I would love to have smaller breasts--but I've gotta be happy with what Mother Nature gave me! Besides, sometimes having your period can be painful--I know--sometimes I get cramps; more often than not, I get nasty headaches--and as far as the bleeding goes, I bleed pretty heavily--so I have to wear overnight pads--but these days, I don't bleed as long as I used to--as far as that was concerned, when I first started having my period, I used to bleed for a week--now it's down to about 3 or 4 days! And that's only because I had surgery when I was 18--I had one of my fallopian tubes removed, plus a cyst that was the size of a small grapefruit--afterward, it took 4 years for my periods to get back to being regular again! All I'm saying is, sometimes having your period isn't all it's cracked up to be! But I'm sure you'll get it soon! Peace!

Funny Val, sweetie, bite the bullet and talk to your mom, or maybe even go to Planned Parenthood and see if they can help. You are most likely just a late bloomer, but as you are small, and got secondary sexual characteristics on the late side, it wouldn't hurt to have your hormones checked out.

I was about 90 lbs when I was your age, and your same height, but I had had pubic hair and other hair since I was 8, and got my period at 12, about average. Most doctors want to see you if you haven't started menstruating by 15 and have gotten your secondary sex characteristics by then.

Your mom is a womyn, too. You have nothing to be embarressed about. Hasn't she asked you if you have menstrated yet? I keep calendars for my girls. Everyone is different, but give her a try, as long as you know she can be trusted. Otherwise call Planned Parenthood and see if they can help, or see if there is a clinic near you for teens.

    Good luck.

Well, I thought I was an early bloomer- got my period at 11- but it seems a lot of you were about the same. I, literally, haven't grown an inch in any direction since then, so I don't feel particularly womanly or "in bloom" or what have you.

Like Maggie said, you should talk to your mom. A few months ago I had to talk to my dad about this stuff, since I was having menstrual problems, and considering he's my DAD (my mother died years ago) and we don't have a good relationship really anyway, that was one of the hardest things I've done in recent memory, but he even understood this is important and something needed to be done about it.

Also, talking to your mom may give you some insight. When you get your period/everything else is a somewhat genetic thing, so you may want to see if she herself or any other close female relative was a late bloomer. My mom was a really late bloomer, didn't get her period till she was 15, but her twin sister started really early and went through almost exactly what I did.

    Good luck!

Okay... i did it! I talked to my mom tonight. i didn't know how to bring it up, so i just came right out and said it. She said she pretty much expected me to have my period by now but figured 15 was not too late. But she said if was really worried about it she would set something up with a doc and i told her I would like to do that. It makes me nervous though. i do not like the idea of anyone seeing me naked, even if it is a doctor! [IMG] but yeah, you're right, it is probably a good idea to get checked out.

Menarche hit at 12, about average for the US and other western countries but a few years early for health.

Didn't fill out with breast and hip development until just before I turned 16, due to being underweight delaying... so I was an average bloomer for health standards, late bloomer compared to my personal puberty start.

you may not get even get as in depth as a gyno appt if you're inquiring about having late puberty, but when you do see a gyno (which you will eventually) you'll be naked, but covered. (except socks) all the ones i've had have let me get undressed and dressed alone (except when i had an abortion, the nurse stayed in the room while i undressed) and they will look and touch specific parts, but *usually* never look at you completely naked. plus they've seen many many other girls/women so it's not a big deal to them... you should have absolutely nothing to worry about :)

I didn't vote because I was kind of neither. I got my period at 13, but never developed much in the way of boobs. I was an A-cup till I had my son, now a B-cup (barely). I guess I got hips around the same time time I got my period, but I'm not really sure because I was pretty chubby at that age.

i was a late bloomer. i got my period so much later than all my friends, and i still have really tiny boobs. i used to get teased about it, but i would never let it bother me, i would just laugh along too. i'm 18 and still have the smallest boobs of all my friends. i dont let it bother me, they'll come up sometime
