Occam, remember that conversation we had a long time ago where I said that among my friends we call eachother "assholes, dumbass, stupid fuck, fag, white trash, crackhead" to harass eachother cuz we love eachother and know that it is all right to harass someone you love. I actually got a little giggly when you called me a stupid prick. I knew I was doing something right . Love ya.... Kharakov
I figure God does stuff at the right time. I mean, God totally half assed teaching humanity about gravity. Or did God keep the information unknown on purpose? Yup. I agree completely. At this point in your life it's probably good for you to chase other knowledge. Yeah. I already see it as fair, so I only do what I think I should in any situation. Yeah, but guns are for wooses. A real man get's killed on a cross, not this woosey shit they have nowadays. You're right, there is nothing to fear. Cancer, aids, ebola, heart disease, marburg, west nile, lyme, poverty, famine, mental disease, the common cold, influenza...... Good Job so far.
Thanks kharakov ~ you've proven my point precisely and validated my cause for genuine concern. Your demonstrated attitude of self-righteousness is no different to that which enabled the holocaust. Dangerous mind-fiddlesticks you and your ilk are playing with! You also presume that I don't "know God". I contend the opposite ~ I do know God, but you don't and probably never will the way you're headed (refer holocaust analogy). Your attempted slight is simple self-validation by denigration common to those with the same faults and deficiencies that are projected upon adversaries so as to disguise their true host ~ yourself. But there is hope for you yet providing you truly believe that the truth will set you free. NB ~ that's the real truth mate, not the twisted perversion that religions pass off.
I understand where you're coming from, man. Everyone needs to treat their ideas and beliefs as though they might possibly be wrong about them. To deviate from this is to delve into the territory of the unreasonable, which is what gets people killed. It's ridiculous... Even if Christians are correct, they shouldn't persecute non-believers... it's like shooting a kid in school because he gave the wrong answer in class. Just to offer a different perspective on the idea of the "true host of evil"... I don't think that any Christian is going to deny the fact that our "sinful desires" come from within, but the whole Genesis creation story is to reiterate the fact that we are good as a creation, but outside influences and human nature get in the way. There was one thing in the whole world we weren't supposed to do, and we had to eat the stupid freakin' apple anyway. It better have been the best darn fruit ever, for all this trouble. ROFL!!!
If Eve actually existed, and I could ask her one question, this would be it: "What the heck were you thinking, why didn't you finish the stupid apple?!?"
The one big problem is the presumption of mental stability. Everyone (self included) thinks "I'm OK" or "there's nothing wrong with me." Problem is, 96% of the western world come from dysfunctional families. That means 4% are genuinely OK. For me, that translates as the JC saying "wide and well trodden is the path to damnation....blah blah blah...but narrow is the way and straight is the gate....blah blah blah....for very few pass by that way" So if you're in the majority, you're heading the wrong direction! How odd then that the Xtian's want everyone heading one well trodden way!! Er, not thanks. I'll go it alone. Aunt Bee says there's plenty enough for all!
ROFL! Because Adam was hungry, and besides, she didn't fix anything for dinner, so it seemed like the right thing to do. Please don't think that chances for salvation are dependent upon your family situations. I hate to quote John 3:16 because it's so overquoted, but it says that Whosoever believes shall have everlasting life. But the problem is that some believers only say they believe - their actions don't show it. For example, the people that come in and hassle you guys aren't "showing the love" so to speak. In other words, the average Christian's witness leaves a whole lot to be desired, like compassion and understanding. So you are right, in order for Christians to be doing their jobs, they need to change their way of thinking and their attitudes towards our brothers and sisters who don't believe. Mmm mmm... Looks good!! You guys know you'd have eaten it too, if you would have been there. BTW, these pies are absolutely lucious looking... Stop posting food, ya'll are making me hungry!!!
P.S. - I'm enjoying our dialogue a lot... I want to thank you guys for being open-minded and constructive (and we're having fun, besides). It's too bad other peeps can't enjoy conversations like this... I think we could understand each other so much better if others would just remain open to the possibilities. *hugs to everyone*
It was if it was a Granny Smith or a Gala. But not those horrible red delicious apples. They aren't good enough for pies (or eating off the core). We grew those in our orchards in Upstate NY when I was a kid. I hated em...
You wouldn't believe it, but I live just a couple of kilometers from where Granny Smith first discovered the granny smith apple in Eastwood, Sydney ~ http://www.ryde.nsw.gov.au/ryde/msherwood.htm I wonder if she was related to Eve?
Only if the Christians and/or Jews are correct. Then everyone is related to Eve. I hope it wasn't an actual apple. I hope it was something at least a million times more exotic for all this crap. Like a mango, or something.
It may have been something like a psychoactive mushroom. If you research mushrooms in early religion you may well be very surprised! And if you read works by those who have used them non-recreationally, you'll find that there is an underlying and invariable connection with the Divine Living Principle behind all of creation when taking serious doses. Sounds almost.......... exotique, non; oui? http://www.freedomdomain.com/relig.htm http://www.magic-mushrooms.net/religion.html http://entheogen.netfirms.com/articles/articles/mushrooms_and_religion.html http://www.csp.org/chrestomathy/christian_view.html ~ When I first read Mr. Allegro's book The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross I had never heard of the fly agaric, or amanita muscaria. Allegro was a brilliant student of Semitic languages at Manchester University and went on to study Hebrew dialects at Oxford University. In 1953, he was named to an international team formed to decipher the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were discovered in caves at Qumran on the shores of the Dead Sea six years earlier. The scrolls, which spanned from about 100 B.C. to 70 A.D., included the oldest known manuscripts of books from the Old Testament. Allegro's gift for deciphering minute texts was crucial. His book, "The Dead Sea Scrolls," was published in 1956 and became a bestseller. Before being removed from the secretive team, he had access to a limited number of scrolls. He used this source in ‘The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross’, which maintains that Christianity has its origins and nature in fertility cults of the Ancient near east centred on a sacred Mushroom. Allegro's subsequent notoriety caused derision in the scientific community but developed a cult following in the early 1970s. Allegro, in his 1970 book "The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross," contended that Judaism and Christianity were in fact products of an ancient sex-and-mushroom cult.
Wow, that's pretty far out... I wouldn't doubt it, either. That would make more sense to the whole "knowledge of good and evil" bit... It's funny, because I've sworn to know the secrets of the universe while schrooming. Then when it's all over I've either forgotten them, or written down something completely heinous, for example: "When you fall off the purple building, you're allowed to cry..." What kind of powerful secret is that??? My friend claimed that the "forbidden fruit" was weed, which isn't entirely ridiculous either, considering the idea is from a ridiculous person. (Come on, who eats 23 hits of acid and expects to be normal, like, ever?) Hmm... If that's true, then doesn't it seem strange that they deviated so far from that manner of thinking? What do you suppose changed their minds about their previous doctrine, if this theory was indeed true? LOL... I'm looking forward to reading the answers on that one... This should be very interesting.
I wonder if, somewhere around 0 B.C., some guy ate an apple, and it was psychoactive, and he tripped off of it, and started seeing serpents and naked people, and started hearing loud thundering voices. :H
For the answer to that, you musy look at the foundation of the Christian Church and the part played by Emperor (Caesar) Constantine. Constantine oversaw the Council of Nicea that chose which manuscripts would form the bible & declared all else to be anathema, then went on to make all the divine assertions about Jesus that were never true (son of god, one with god, trinity etc), but are now a part of christian convention (dogma). The Catholic church even states that a myth that is accepted by the masses becomes a dogma, and the dogma is then asserted as fact ~ how utterly bizarre!! No-one questions Constantine's method, ethos, or sanity. But given the propensity to insanity demonstrated by Roman Emperor's, there's plenty of cause for concern. For goodness sakes Constantine murdered his brother (& I think mother also) to assure the throne. Yet christians don't bother to critically examine this, and concoct the "divinely inspired" crock to cover the truth of the matter ~ the very truth that will indeed set people free of the lies that have been fabricated for so long. The Bible Fraud http://www.joshuabooks.com/bushby/biblefraud/internalgif/fraud.htm Search ~ http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=the+jesus+mysteries+book&meta= < The Jesus Mysteries > & < Jesus & the Goddess > my comp is playing up not opening new search windows so can't hotlink direct
While I agree that Constantine did many horrible things to corrupt the Church, I think we need to go back to the roots of Christianity... That would be the Jewish heritage. Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. (NASB) Isaiah 7:14 The name Immanuel translates as "G-d with us". This shows the nature of the promised Messiah. He was supposed to be just that... G-d with us. That's why I believe in Christ's divine nature, and so do many other non-Catholic Christians. So this wasn't a fault of Constantine's (even though he has many other disgusting ones that I don't care to discuss...). Christ fulfilled all the prophesies that the promised Messiah was supposed to... I'm not gonna waste anyone's time by listing them all, instead I'll refer to the book of Hebrews. It explains everything. http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/toc/modeng/public/RsvHebr.html Fortunately or unfortunately, both the modern and ancient Jews were expecting a political deliverer ("Hosanna"), not a spiritual one, and therefore don't accept Christ as the Messiah. Some think that it was out of anger that they had Him crucified (which others don't understand, was extremely necessary for the prophecy to be fulfilled). I guess what I was getting at is, the idea of Christianity being a derivative of a "mushroom cult" seems a bit strange, because that would mean that Judaism is a derivative of a "mushroom cult". From the earliest recorded books of the Old Covenant (or the Old Testament, which in either case, Constantine had no say in), Moses warned the Jews not to do as the cults of Baal and Astarte do, which basically, what they would do is get all intoxicated and have an orgy. The OT warns against intoxication (as in being drunk, not having a drink), saying it "takes away the understanding." (Hosea 4:11), also commanding us not to be adulterous (have sex outside of marriage) (Exodus 20:14). So, I'm not saying it's impossible that Judeo-Christianity is derived from a mushroom cult, I'm just saying that the history and doctrine of these religions suggest otherwise. So what I was asking was, what do you suppose happened in the very early days to make such a drastic change in the doctrine, from the origin of Judaism? I have an idea I want to share, but I want to get a few opinions first...
