I've found that the big ignorant world is a myth started by internet folk. I've honestly never had anyone remotely treat me in the real world like dreadheads treat each other on the internet.

I've met folk who were solid about no combs, nothing but natural way to go who, you could see wanted to perhaps criticize my own way (backcombed, SLS, chemical hair dye) but knew better than to go off the way they would had it been the internet. Infact, both of those guys became friends and never did they get up in my grill about my hair and I didn't get up in their grill about being 'ras trent-ish' - even though that was my opinion.

So yeah, who'd a thunk it. Opposing hair philosophies co-existing in a friendship because we all descided respecting each other was more important than hair.

If you're getting negative experiences IRL, perhaps one should look at why they're manifesting that.

some come on here and get ripped in their 1st post, not just by one person...sometimes more!

real life is fukin nicer and a much more pleasant place if you ask me.

If we all lived by some of those "words of wisdom", yes indeed, the world would be a better place.
Its not difficult or time consuming to be a kind person...

i dont know where you live in the UK but in general, europe is far more progressive than some other places? it seems this way.

ive been profiled by cops, searched by the cops even when ive been nothing but respectful and given no probable cause, i even got asked to take my jacket off in a store because they thought i was stealing. ive gotten negative comments from people working the mic in fast food drive through window about my hair . i got turned down for jobs (they didnt come out and say it was because of my hair, but its fairly obvious sometimes, especially when im the only applicant and im more than qualified). ive overheard people in stores talking about how i need to go take a bath and brush my hair... ive even been put down by fellow 'dread' heads with perfect little candlesticks on their head...etc etc etc. i could list a lot more but it gets redundant.

maybe ive just had bad experiences... or maybe its because the neglect method is much more of a shock to the senses of the vanilla population.

    :cheers2:

oh and before anyone replies to that, im not trying to argue or be contradictory, just sharing my experience

    omg

the world is a great place because of diversity. not everybody wants to go around singing with each other and holding hands and being friends.

i agree with your second comment though. its not that difficult or time consuming to be nice. but it is pretty time consuming and pointless trying to lecture others on how they should act.

    :cheers2:

There are posters on here who are simply fishing for compliments, and there are others who want some constructive criticism. There are dreads who believe neglect is the only way to 'real' dreads and there are dreads who crochet, dread perm, backcomb and whatever else makes hair dread quickly. In short, there are all kinds of people here, some 'nice' and some 'not nice.' You say 'don't post' if you feel negatively about someone's post, but it could just as easily be said 'don't respond' when someone's being negative.

It's easier to wear slippers than to carpet the world.

The real world is ofcourse very diverse, some people are gonna like your dreads and dread related stuff, others arent, isn't the point that this board is all dreadheads who are supposed to get along? Its unrealistic to think that people are going to get along all the time, and the arguments are some of the most interesting things sometimes, but new members aren't joining to argue, they just introducing themselves =/

I'm sorry but I have to say if the "noobs" would just read the stickies when they first get an account then we wouldn't have the problems we do with them posting the same question 5 times in a row. they can't quit complaining about how horrible the frizzies and shit is either so yeah they are pretty annoying.

I don't expect everyone to join hands and sing and be friends. But when you join an on-line community that was created to provide a supportive, safe enviroment for dreadheads, I expect you to follow the basic rules and play nice.

You're right, its pretty much pointless, but its the mama in me. When someone forgets their manners, I'll always remind them. :p

I wish soaringeagle was back. He would make everything better again. You all know this site has gone downhill since he left.

Also, you obviously can't be "real" and kind to others at the same time so I don't understand what all you sissy crybabies are whining about.
