Kids like me wouldn't exist if it wasn't for you guys. The numbers are smaller, but they're still existent. Maybe the world as a whole hasn't changed too much, but at least the spirit still lives on in some people, and the effect had on their own individual worlds should be satisfaction enough.

Besides, activism still lives on. It hasn't been forty years since the flower power days, it may take a thousand more but I'm pretty confident everything will get better. Never perfect, but better.

(Just answering the first post... not gonna read 11 pages and try to catch up on whatever the topic is now)

    No way.

    Opps, sorry, off topic.

Or is it? Maybe one of the ways, perhaps the biggest way, we've changed the world is the children we've had. HMmmm...

    Peace,

    Good Mornin' POD,
Yes, that's a big part of the change we made in ourselves. We grew up, we came to seperate the youthfull fantacy from the reality of life.
Mostly I think a lot of change came for the new mothers of the 60s/70s revelution. I knew a few fathers that had their children, but mostly it was the woman that supported the kids. Even if it was on welfare/food stamps, it was still a form of work to live by their rules. You had to show up for the monthly meetings and and have all your 'papers' in order. Pack up the kids and keep all the doc, denist, and other programs that were required to get state aid. They came to your home and looked through your cubboards and bedrooms. CPS was up your butt all the time and at times you and your children had to submit to counceiling and re-evaluation.
Women we also expected to do all the cleaning chores as well as cook and do laundry, while watching the babies. While the men gathered and talked and got high and saught pleasure from other women.
Then there was a slight change around the late 70s, when the men were more involved with family and they became more work oriented. We moved to the country where we could live our lifestyles without threat. We could grow our own food and raise our famlies to respect the earth.
With the VN war over the protests died down, equal rights were granted, women were more active in government and things began to settle as we grew old living life. Then the war resurfaced as it will, and old arguments became new ones. Now there is a new cry for freedom in the youth of today. A new voice crying to the same rythem of what we of the 60s cried for. So the cycle continues as the wheel spins.

Thanks for the input, Grateful, It always does my heart good to see some of the "youngers" on this path. Changing the world requires ALL topics, so no worries, mate.
If you have the time, reading the other posts might be pretty enlightening for you. There are alot of very heavy and intelligent folks on here with a wealth of knowledge all the way from spiritual to agricultural. (Actually, I don't think those two things are very far apart). At any rate, welcome!!!

Perfect answer, brother. Very nicely said.
I feel that we were able to change the world.
My children have grown up with my values and ideals, and they are passing these on to their own kids.
If that doesn't change the world, what will?
Someone mentioned seperate drinking fountains and bathrooms for black and white people. I remember watching the marches down south and wishing that I was old enough to go down and join them, but I was only a kid then and could not. By the time I was fourteen, I was branded a hippie by friends and family, but I wasn't into a lot of drugs, and I did not sleep around. Not everyone did those things, although many did...just like they do today. Drugs and sex were not what it was all about. Seeing the problems in the world, making our voices heard in protest, and doing whatever we could to change things was what it was about.
Rejecting materialism, racial intolerance, and violent behavior while quietly living a peaceful, productive life is the best way to affect a change in the world.
Volunteering in your community and raising your kids to care about the world and its population changes things in a big way. The littlest things, like recycling and having a smile for everyone, make more of a difference than most people might think.
Sharing and giving of yourself is so important! You don't have to be rich or powerful to make a difference. You just have to care and show that you care.
It's nice to see you all again. I've missed being here.

(((Angel))) So glad your back!! I knew you would be back.. Beautiful words to live by sister.. The change will be subtle and it will come from our chldren and theirs to come. It wont happen in a big bang it will take time to grow and sink in and take root, it has been growing, gaining strength and knowledge inside the hearts and minds of the youth as seeds are planted.
    Brightest Blessings Angel

cloner.. if your in to mood to pick peoples posts apart and attack them with it, I think you need to find another place to post your opinion, this forum is for the LIKEMINDED people, you don't seem to resonate with that. And it seems to me that here lately you've been picking out the women to aggravate. Are you a coward or are you just to young and inexperienced to know any better. Which ever the case may be, stop it or I'll boot your boney ass outta here. Don't come in here fucken around, the Dragon Lady(that'd be me) is watchin' you.

And so I'll ask you again, for probably the 10th time, just what DO you think is the way to "change the world", and WHAT are YOU doing about it??? Please elaborate. Please say something useful.
You cannot "change the world" in any positive way with a continuously negative attitude. You tell everybody what you think is wrong with what they say, in as few words as possible, but you do not offer any good alternatives. You come off instead, as an angry person who just complains alot. You piss people off. Do you think that is the way to fix things? I WILL say that people like you have a way of making people like me work even harder to do the RIGHT things, to counteract the negativity. To take up the slack for people who don't have a clue.
So, PLEASE, answer some questions with some REAL answers. PLEASE come up with something other than a short nasty comment. And if you can't do that much, then find somewhere else to post.

Likeminded as in all for the same cause, and that is Love, Peace and Unity. you come off as a kid trying to piss off the Old Hippies, but brother there is no light in your behavior, your what we use to refer to as energy rip-offs, with nothing healthy to bring to the table, just junk food. You disrupt the Peace but you will never disrupt the Love and Unity.
Walk in Balance and stay in the Light.
