i'm old enough to have played hockey with newspaper stuffed in my socks to protect my shins durig shinny at the outdoor rink

I could actually lace skates up in my living room and most days skate at least part way to the rink right behind my school 5 houses down the street.....until I got older and realized the ''skate change shack'' for lacing up would be where I could sit with Cheryl....she loved the hollies and I loved her

 

I bought a cricket box once for paintball. I heard guys saying it protect your balls, well for me the thought of getting shot and a paintball somehow going up in me was frightening lol. So I bought a cricket box. slipped between two pairs of underwear. They give women vests and protection but I didn't take any of that. I was only concerned about that and my face which I wrapped a big wool jumper around like a turbin.

Best answer if I can find a shoe repair place.
I have something similar to a bone spur. And so skates usually rub it and hurt like hell. So I would prefer to keep this comfortable pair as long as I can.
I'm sure if I try on a couple dozen pair or am lucky enough to find the same model and size I will be ok but to just get a repair sounds so much better.

 

if youre near a craft store you could probably find a brass grommet kit and fix it yourself

maybe even dollar store if they have sewing section
