My husband and I are hoping to have our first child within the next year (hopefully getting started with the baby making process soon ;) ). We have already discussed names but nothing decided for sure yet. For a boy we like Bodhi (as in Bodhisattva) and Geoff. For girls I like the names Sierra and Dharma but my husband's not as excited about those ones. We both like the names Maddison, Kaylani, Jessica, and Laurelai.

My name is "Stasia" (which is my shortend version of "Anastasia") which means "One who will rise again." Which is kinda scary really because a couple of years ago I 'spiritual died' after my 1st baby died. I was NOT prepared to stick around in such an unjust, cruel world and was all ready for 'leaving' it, if you understand what I mean by that, I'm sure you do. Infact I had by then already tried a few unsuccessful times. I didn't want to be part of this world that I felt had delt me just TOO MANY blows. But then I found out that I was pregnant again. So long story short, my 2nd Son is surely my heaven sent angel to bring me a reason to live again and so having him saved MY life. So it would seem my names meaning was completely true! Also in thanks to my new baby Son who, in my opinion, saved my life, I named him "Abayomi Phoenix" Abayomi meaning "Born to bring me joy" and obviously Phoenix is "The legendary bird of flame, reborn from it's own ashes" So you see by me giving him life, he too gave ME life.

Stasia, your story brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.

Little Flower, I'm not sure your question was directed toward me, but I think it was so I'll answer it. Yes, Bodhi (for Bodhisattva) and Dharma are both from the Buddhist philosophy. In Tibetan Buddhism, a Bodhisattva is one who is motivated by compassion and seeks enlightenment for all of mankind. Dharma means protection and is a practice in Buddhism. There's alot more to it but I don't want to go into alot of detail (it could go on forever :) ).
The other names are just ones we like. Maddison I got from watching Splash with Darryl Hannah and Tom Hanks. Maddison was the name of the mermaid and when I was little I wanted to be her. I think Kaylani is a Hawaiin name but I'm not sure. It sounds Hawaiin anyway. We liked the name Geoff but we didn't want to spell it the more common way (Jeff) and my husband's name is George so we thought it would be cool to have the same first three letters.

Lotus Butterfly, I do hope you don't mind me replying to part of your messege that was not intended for me but I think you may like to know what I have to tell. The name "Kaylani" IS indeed Hawaiin and incase you maybe intrerested to know it means "Adored One" which I think is just beautiful. Ps. Hope I am not being to personal when I say good luck with starting a family and I wish you all the happieness in the world with that. Children ARE so presious. So when you are blessed with a baby just you make extra specially sure that, the most important thing of all that is sometimes over looked with all the hard work and responcabillity, ENJOY you child/children and you will have a forever blessed and happy life. Good luck my friend. XXXX
