How can you be sure that 9/11 wasn't a reaction to US Middle-East policies (over the last 100 years) driven by petro-dollar$?

there is progress.... we now have less freedom and pay more for it... the terrorists have unlimited funds to do what ever the hell they want plus they have CIA on board along with western leaders... i mean, how much progress do you want? :bobby:

    Summerhill

I did try and respond to this, but it gave me a bit of a headache. To be honest, I wasn't really going to go that far back in time. I also have hardly any interest in the 'Ulster conflict' as you put it.

    Well, ...
    9/11 occurred 12 years ago: Deaths 2,996 Injured (non-fatal) More than 6,000
    7/7 occurred 4 years later: Deaths 52 civilians + 4 bombers Injured (non-fatal) Approximately 700
4/15 'The 'Boston Marathon tragedy' occurred 8 years later: Deaths

    4 total
3 spectators from bombing on April 15
1 police officer from shooting on April 18

    Injured (non-fatal)
    280 total
264 people at scene of bombing on April 15
16 police officers during gunfight on April 19

So the next one is due in 16 years time - 2029

    (Is my maths right?)

On that basis, the attacks are occurring further and further apart and are less and less severe. Is that progress?

What does it matter if it was?

Imo, I don't think 'petro-dollars' had much baring on it, more -

[t]he ruling to kill the Americans and their allies civilians and military – is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it, in order to liberate the al-Aqsa Mosque (in Jerusalem) and the holy mosque (in Makka) from their grip, and in order for their armies to move out of all the lands of Islam, defeated and unable to threaten any Muslim. This is in accordance with the words of Almighty Allah, 'and fight the pagans all together as they fight you all together,' and 'fight them until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah

The International Islamic Front for Jihad against the US and Israel has issued a crystal-clear fatwa calling on the Islamic nation to carry on jihad aimed at liberating holy sites. The nation of Muhammad has responded to this appeal. If the instigation for jihad against the Jews and the Americans in order to liberate Al-Aksa Mosque and the Holy Ka'aba Islamic shrines in the Middle East is considered a crime, then let history be a witness that I am a criminal.

Perhaps just as the Germans were not culpable for the Nazi’s so we're not culpable for the acts committed by our governments.

I can see religious zealotry being a factor in this "war on terror" but imo money and power must be in there also.

Must be? Your opinion or is?

Your main point was about US foreign policy. And I say: What does it matter if it was?

Oh, now I see what you're saying.

My bad, to me, it seems obvious that Germans were culpable (to some degree) for crimes the Nazi’s committed (to the extent that they knew about it).

So I was saying that in a twisted sense. Good observation 
