If it's a '54, it either has to be a hollowbody ES, a les paul custom, or a les paul gold top. I can't recall if they started using ABR-1s or Nashville bridges with the TP6 tailpiece by '54. I can't remember... the les paul customs may have had them. Other than that I think it would either have a wraparound single tailpiece/bridge combinde or a trapeze bridge. If it is a '54, there's only two kinds of pickups that would fit in it. Those are Gibson Mini-Humbuckers such as the firebird pickups. The other are P-90s as that's what they came with stock. They did a lot of changing in the 50s though... every year they had a new whacked out design. The humbucker didn't come till '57. '57-'60 are, of course, the most valuable going sometimes to $150,000... I actually really don't like the sound of the original '57s-60s... but my '60 reissue sounds really nice. Some people pay up to $4,000 just for the original PAF pickups. But they always forget one little thing (idiotically).. capcitators. Other than that, there's only three people that I can remember who own(ed) '57 Les Pauls... Duane Allman (Allman Bros.), Jimmy Page (led zep), and Gary Richrath (REO Speedwagon). I can't remember any others... And for sam - Yes... self employed. I worked as a guitar technician for six months with a a local tech. I just learned the stuff on my own from playing guitars and working with my own... Other than that, I also used to have my own ebay business where I would sell guitars and buy guitars, modify them, repair them or fix 'em up, then sell them. And then I started a matrix list where I would sell positions for about 12 people on a list to get a Gibson Les Paul... one person would pay after the other until the person at the top of the list got one and there were twelve people... and just kept bumping them like that until they got one. Then, I started doing landscaping for a while because doing tech work and guitars is a real pain in the neck and I need a break to do something else once in a while... So I've been switching back and forth from doing guitar work to landscaping.
Here's 2 of our babies....Larry's also going to teach me to play bass when the studio's finished. Fender Squire Precission. Yeah you sure do have alot of stuff going on...for a 14 year old.... Larry still has his Guild accoustic he bought in California in 1969 and used to play for me back then. He used to paint Bikes and cars and has a beautiful metallic candy apple red Fender Squire electric he painted. He also has a slide lap guitar and an old mandolin his dad gave him. His dad and uncle played in some big bands in the 30' and 40's. He been teaching me to play guitar for a couple of years, and we did record a few things, working on my singing now, we play alot of old blues and folk. But he is a lead guiterist so does alot of old rock too. And some mellow stuff folk stuff. teepi
wow.... that looks like a newer ES-137... I can't ever keep track of all the ES models... I want to get an ES-137 in blueburst... the only thing that makes me think it's a 137 is the florentine cutaway as the 137 is the only one I've seen that has that.
Maybe its a bit later than early 50's. I'll ask him tomorrow night when he gets home. He's out of town during the week. But I know he got it from his Uncle quite awhile back. His 2 loves other than me are old guitars and old cars...can't afford either one....sigh...
Did anyone ever tell you that you are an arrogant prick? Well, if not let me do the honours. YOU ARE AN ARROGANT PRICK. She could have been talking about the 5th considering the due process of law thing. She could just be telling you that kids nowadays don't stand up for what they truly believe in, that they really don't have the motivation to truly believe in anything. I know, I see it everyday at my school. She just wants my and your generation to be as good and even better in the civil rights arena. Shameless, I'm sorry about your 2 husbands. All that reminds me of is the Country Joe song the band sang at Woodstock. I guess I'm a little late. :& But that's just my opinion and I'm stickin' to it like a stamp to a letter.

man, this thread was drudged up from the past....last post before heifers_calf was in october.....did you deliberately go looking for this thread?
know what a wse man once said "before you take that speck from your brothers eye, remove the log in your own" and to all those other "hippies" now-a-days...what are you talking about...people not standing up for what they beleive in...that was contunied out through the 70's a bit with punk, which also was "against the estblishment" but thats not what the point is...the point is, don't think lesser of people cause maybe they arent really interested in politics or anything like that...i was too lazy to read all of this toopic so thats why im stopping now...
Novays. heifers_calf is my son, he is new to the forums. He was reading some of my old post when he came across this old thread. He like the good son he is, is protecting me. It's hard for him not to come to my defence out of the love we have. We are tight. He will fight for his family and he doesn't like people diss'in me. you know, but I'm sure any son would try to protect his mama. He means no harm, he just got frustrated when he read the harsh things that ware being said to me. I raised him to be loyal and true. He was just doing what came natural to him, as he loves me. I hope y'all can understand where he's coming from and not judge his motives to be disagreable. Jom has a lot of love to give the forums. He has gifts. He comes to the table with offerings. He is a true hippie. He has come full circle and is here to tell the tale. He will not be boring. Blessed are the second generation hippies. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
I had no idea I was still such a controversial figure around here. Oh, well... unavoidable I guess. Let see, organic foods stil horrible, and fight sports rule. JFK was shot by one man. Janis Joplin was never hot.
