But it is being done gradually... look at summer clothes today (mini-shorts, cutoff halter tops etc) and summer clothes 50 years ago... Even in the US you occasionally see someone in a bikini in a store when it's a really hot day, or guys just in shorts. Men just in shorts are quite common here in the Netherlands on our rare hot days, although topless women are still rarer even than those hot days... For women yes, getting topless more accepted first would be more gradual yet, but for the men there really isn't any steps left. :)

Uhm, it's a huge personals site where people sign up and upload their own profiles and pictures... Free site w/thousands of members. That one of them spammed you doesn't mean other members aren't real people, any more than receiving spam from someone with a Yahoo address means everyone at Yahoo is a spammer/fake...

Sigs aren't for main page only... I use whatever url I find is most likely to appeal to the people of the forum where I post. I haven't bothered to make a sig, but my profile url isn't my main page either, but rather the one with my barefooting essays.

For what it's worth, I dont think candy_foxx is who she claims to be either...

But if she is real, and she really did do this, more power to her.

It's something I'd love to do one day (it would be so cool to just walk out of my house and down to the store with nothing on!), but i think the fear that I might get arrested, or raped, will probably mean that i never actually go through with it...

I did once get naked in the street, but I was drunk, I was with a load of friends who i felt totally safe with and it was 3 am and there was absolutely nobody else around, so thats a bit different.

I tend to agree that we shouldn't force or nudity on people. I generally confine myself to being naked on nude beaches, or regular beachned when there's very few around, and my back garden (and sometimes at festivals). If one of my friends is uncomfortable with me being naked, I'm not naked around them. This, however, is just fun, like streaking the college campus, and I wouldn't object to it.

I haven't yet heard an objection to me being naked :) But I would have no problem covering up if someone asked me to. Live and let live, ya know? :)

Well, there is a guy, Mark Storey, from up here, Oregon I think, that is a nudist and has made a point of walking around nude in unexpected places, from hiking trails to on the streets of Portland and has never had much of a fuss made. And then there's the Fremont parade on the summer solstice up here in Seattle, where it is certain there will be nude bicyclists and it's tolerated. But nudist camps are easy enough to find, if not close by. Check mine out www.lakebronson.com

If being nude around people who do not wish to see it is imposing it on them then wouldnt wearing tatoos or peircings around people who do not wish to see them be imposing on them too? Do you think people should have to go to some special place filled with like minded people just to express themselves? I thought we had freedom of expression in this country. No matter what you do in society its gonna offend someone. You shouldnt have to not do something just because it pisses someone off. Unless youre hurting a person then you shouldnt worry about weither what your doing upsets them or not. Many things those people who complain do upsets me so should I have the right to tell them not to do it?

I dont see why we care so much if we supposedly "force" our nudity on others. They dont seem to care that they "force" us to see them in their slutty revealing clothing so why should we care if we're naked, at least its more natural and less sexual. Nudists being nude around others areint forcing their nudity on them anymore than anyone else is when ever they do what theyre doing.

Actually had a girl do this a few years back in the convenience store where I worked-came in with no pants on-I wasnt there at the time (naturally!) but a co worker said he nearly broke his neck doing a double take, and just told her 'You cant be in here like that!"

I wouldnt have told her that. I would have comended her for bravery and helped her to find what she needed and given her a discount :) Besides most stores say No Shoes/No Shirt/No Service, they dont say anything about pants. :)

is it possible that walking around nude may be offensive / upsetting to someone who has been raped or molested?

Anything is possible, but it's also possible that you happen to be wearing the same jacket the guy who attacked her wore, or have the same hairstyle, or wear the same aftershave. It's unlikely anyone got attacked by someone who was already naked as they approached.

Seeing someone who's nude go around about their business and not doing anything threatening could also help show nudity isn't always bad and isn't always associated with sex/rape. The situation as a whole is totally different.

Besides, I think we can not, nor should, tip-toe around all people just in case we might remind them about something that may or may not have happened. Of course, if something bad has happened to someone you know it's nice to be considerate for a while, but on the whole life goes on... there are so many rapes, car accidents, robberies, people dying from all kinds of stuff; I'm sure that if you spend the day meeting people at work, visit a store at the mall and go buy groceries, odds are you've seen at least one person who's just had something bad happen to them. And almost anything you do, wear or say may remind them of it... maybe you're driving the same brand car that caused the accident, wearing the same cap a robber wore, who knows?

well, yeah i know that but i just think the sexual issues go deeper than the clothing issues; on a whole other level and that would be my concern with walking around naked. obviously you can't go around avoiding offence everywhere but sometimes it is a thoughtful practice.

I don't think rape is about sex (or nudity) - it's about power, right?
