Thanks, they didn't post the long one, might be too long although the one right below me is quite long too and it usually says when you've exceeded the characters in a comment field... but the shorter version did get posted so at least the link is up there on that page! For those who actually bother to look, because one of the posters below me has already repeated the 'safety violation' again. You can lead people to information, but you can't make them read it...
I cannot possibly do anything but admire him. I was out of town for work yesterday, and after too much time on my crutches with the wrong kind of shirt, which had rubbed my sides raw, I gave up on decorum, and entered a large shopping mall wearing nothing but a pair of board shorts and the cast on my right leg. Generally the crutches mean I can get anywhere in bare feet, but I was expecting security to stop me for being shirtless. Once inside I decided that I had done enough walking for a while and decided to take the easy option and borrow a wheelchair. I got to the information desk, and could see the girl looking at my bare foot and chest as I asked if I could borrow a chair. No problem she said, crutches must be hard work in this weather, and off I went. It was a relief to give my armpits (and bare foot) a rest...
I seem to remember you saying that you only wear the cast and crutches to get around the dress code... Don't you find it hugely limiting to have to hobble around and be encumbered by a cast just to get into places barefoot and/or shirtless? Frankly I don't think the trade-off is worth it - I'd rather wear shoes and walk normally than lumber around on crutches. Half the point of being barefoot is the way that it lets you walk, surely?
No - cast is for real, the only good thing is it means I can go anywhere pretty much barefoot, and after 18 months of various casts and braces, the crutches are not an issue any more.
