When you are in sleep paralysis, your brain is operating at a certain low frequency, that immediately fluctuates upward when you get excited and wake.

The trick is to be cool.

wow this is really weird to read. sometimes when im like extremely dead tired and i fall asleep on the couch or something ill go into my bed to sleep but i hear this loud banging. Its different everytime sometimes like thunder by that i mean its kind of echo-ey. and other times it reminds me of a blacksmith crafting a sword. like the hammer against the metal. Its crazy as hell cuz i know that i hear it but i aslo know that its not there cuz nothing is making that noise that would even begin to makes sense. I wonder if i was on the cusp of it and just fell asleep?? this i shall try.

I just made myself a promise.
I will have a self induced out of body experience in the year 2009.

call it a New Years Resolution.

    It's easier than you think.
You seriously just NEED to remain calm.

I know, this is new for all of you, but this is not new,
    this is
    SO
    ancient...

    just relax
    and drift into trandra
    it's ok

i've had lucid dreams since i was around 6 years old. i never knew what it was. this is lucid dreaming?. i wake up after a set period of time going to the washroom. or noise..then focus, then close my eyes and let my thoughts clear themselves, then i hear this bang and its like i'm being sucked into a hole then pop. sometimes i just get this weird dizzyness feeling and i wake up. its kinda hard to control. my mind is like oblivious to reality, i then cannot control anything the first thought that hits me carrys out into a setting., but then i am able to control these hapenings its so real and vivid, i've waken out of it having an orgasm, yelling, punching something, squeezing something or sweating bricks. but most oftenly my dreams turn into sleep i will then wake up about an hour later and not really remember what happend just images.. so i cannot tell you what i am hearing seeing or anything in my "lucid" dreams. i dont think i'm able to do what you guys are stating in this thread. but its something so real it scares me cause its actually not happening.

i dont like being inside a building in my dreams. i step out the front door barefoot, onto the snowy steps, out the front walkway, down the icy hill to the lake. its frozen, but i can still swim. just my head floating above the water, i see two other heads floating towards me.

that was last night, i remember.

i'm usually lucid dreaming right after my alarm goes off in the morning, or if someone calls me in the middle of the night then as soon as i hang up im back to dreaming.

I tried a few nights ago and had trouble getting to the REM stage while awake when I went back to sleep. I kept slipping off. Should I try to take something sugary before I go back to bed?

i'm trying to find people who can do the W.I.L.D. technique (wake induced lucid dream). accidentally started doing it a while ago but i can now enter it very easily since i have nerve damage to my left ear - gives me a signal that i'm ready to go into one and i've finely honed my technique. would love to talk with others about this.

btw, i'm a firm believer that what people usually think is astral projection or out of body experience is really an accidental w.i.l.d.
i've been doing lots of personal research and comparing the sensations/symptoms. not trying to knock it or say that the consciousness doesn't go beyond a dream, but so far it sounds like the same thing.

monte, i have the same ear problem. It's like a scary boom in my ear after some minutes of trying to sleep. Sometimes, i even hear some radio kind of stuff for a moment. So I'm not the only one, phew.
I haven't tryed this Lucid Dream stuff yet, but i will. First I have some questions though:
How do you wake up from a dream like this?
Is there a risk that i wake up screaming when trying to go into one? (cause my parents wouldn't be too happy about it :))
There's a chance that these questions were answered in the topic before, but i'm too lazy to read all, i admit it.

I've always been really interested in the concept of lucid dreaming, and would love to actually be able to do it. However, I'm still in the learning process of it all...

    sigh....

alot of the times, when i start lucid dreaming i tell myself it isnt real and i kill myself and wake up

or i start looking around at a room that is somewhat like a studio with no doors, the top of trees popping out of the walls

but it has no top and when i look up to see how to climb out my eyes start coming open and i can see through my eyes while im dreaming simultaneously

Man, if this is not a conspiracy or something, and this is really possible, then it must be freaking awesome. But it's strange that a thing like this isn't more popular.

i shot a man in my dream this morning, just to watch him die. he saw that i wanted to kill a man, and looked me in the eye. we went outside the bar for a duel and he missed his two shots, i killed him there with his son looking on.

it was awesome, it happened right after i had a cleptomania dream about a bookstore and the transformers movie.

    i love lucid dreaming.

I dreamed that i was lucid dreaming lol. I guess this is progress :D Atleast i've remembered the "Am i dreaming?"+ bite in the arm stuff. But i didn't wake up in the reality. Instead, i woke up in another dream and was so happy that i lucid dreamed. :p Now that i woke up for real, it's actually funny... But to be honest, i can't tell if it was really a dream or i did it for real. This is confusing.
