Speaking of Altec... I used to have a 6 input Altec mixer/PA amplifier... The old green-face rackmount deal. It was solidstate with an output transformer (a-la tube amp) that thing was freakishly loud and surprisingly warm for solidstate.

My vintage gear is a 60s rogers kit, champagne sparkle. I restored it myself. It goes for about three grand on ebay. I got it for $80.00 and put another $200.00 in it.

    Just found this thread.......

Downunder in the 60s Goldentone amps were HUGE, mostly because they were all you could afford. Proper vintage tube tone at a fraction of 60s Fender Vox or Marshall prices. Nowhere near as loud, though.

I had a Korg mono guitar synth in the 80s that I used to use to annoy my singer.....I'd play a solo using a trumpet sound.

Also messed around with several of the original Tube Screamers from the late 70s. Awesome effect that we didn't fully appreciate....I'd kill for an original TS now.

Just sold a 78 Fender Lead 2. Cool out of phase sound, but too heavy for the stage.
