slim shady lp and marshall mather lp are two of my fav cds, both incredible. i also like aesop rock, immortal, biggie/tupac, bone thugs, jedi mind tricks is allright, atmosphere is good. some others but i cant remember. but yea most rap on the radio is terrible. but to say rap/hip-hop isn't "real" music is just ignorant.
i wouldnt say its ignorance.. rap is more like poetry put over music.. because rappers sample beats.. they don't use anything of their "own" usually.. i think in a musical sense rap is not music because you are not creating music.. its already been created you're just re-using it
i like a lot of rap...used to be one of those people who hate it but ever since i started smoking weed a couple years ago i like it lol. just cause a lot of the beats are really good and chill when high. and some lyrics are really good too.
immortal technique. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M72zVuBNpEA shit like that, the shit that makes you think.
yeck not my thing at all on rare occasions (prom, etc.) it can be fun to dance to. but I would never go out and buy an album it's just ... not my thing.
"I would rather get shanked by a coffee cup" Although I dont know what "Shanked" means, I voted this option
i like some rap. especially in a live music setting. i really like madlib, MFdoom, quasimoto. i love cypress hill, and krs1. i like some atmosphere, and early eminem. the only rap ive seen live is cypress hill, twice, and atmosphere and kanye west, once. they were all great shows.
so cover songs aren't music? i understand your point, but just because its not original doesn't mean it's not music.
a lot of my guy friends are always playing rap in the car and stuff, I mean, it's better than country, and some songs are catchy, but it's just not music to me. I'd never go out of my way to listen to it.
people who "cover" songs.. usually PLAY the songs as well.. they dont have the song playing in the background while they sing the lyrics
oldschool rap can be good, but new rap like CRANK DAT FUCKING SOLDIER BOY!!! but over all cant go wrong with classic dead and good ol floyd
Except he has started to basically sound repetitive and that is kind of gay. I love Tech and all his anger, but his new stuff sounds more like other new stuff of this day that I find to be garbage. Immortal's old stuff is still bomb though.
