i find the twilight haters more entertaining than the twihards. if you don't like it then no ones forcing you to read the books or watch the movie? get over it. so what if 16yr olds want to be morons. who gives a shit if they depicted vampires like that, it's just one series jeez. lol it's so stupid that people say it's ruining literature, people are free to write whatever they want. obviously you can't compare it to bram stokers classic, twilight is fluff for teens, definitely not a literary masterpiece- and no one is claiming that it is!!! so really you're not saying anything that we don't already know and no, i am not a twilight fan.
It's true that being a twilight hater is just as popular as being obsessed with twilight. I've never read Dracula, but I've read some of Anne Rice's stuff. Pretty good, pretty good. Is Dracula excellent?
Anne Rice IS Twilight in comparison to Dracula. And Dracula is Anne Rice in comparison to I Am Legend. Nah, hating it is Internet-popular, loving it is mainstream-popular. It's like the difference between being famous on TV and famous in theaters. And yes, I have heard multiple people claiming it's a masterpiece. And NOT just teens. (But all females =P)
i always wonder why people get so hostile over whole vampire thing in our culture.. i mean, people get very emotional over this. it's not like this is the first time in history where american media sensationalized/sexualized/distorted/destroyed etc etc something.. i mean cmon people, this is what they do haha with that said i think the traditional vampire stories were a lot more interesting and scary than the stuff we see today in movies and tv
Have you ever read her work? Anne Rice is a GOOD writer. She has literary skills, man! Skilllllssss! Stephanie Meyer does not.
Dude... interview with a vampire was a good book. But EVERY other book she wrote in the vampire chronicles all her main characters ended up turning into Louis. She has no clue how to write a male character convincingly. I challenged you to name one anne rich vampire that didn't have a gay sex scene or at least talk about it.
Before he died in 1995 Stephen Kaplan was the foremost expert on Vampires Says Dr. Kaplan, "The work of the Vampire Research Center is serious - dead serious. Some of the people we interview are very dangerous. Police around the world have often reported finding bodies completely drained of blood. Some of the people we have interviewed are among those responsible." Photo Edit International “When I was nine I made a blood-sister oath with another girl. Later, we sucked on our fingers to make the blood stop flowing. Her finger wouldn’t stop bleeding so I sucked on it too. That’s when something snapped in my taste buds. I grew excited. I could feel the beating of her pulse." For many years after the ritual oath incident Randi went into the meat section of super markets and when no one was looking, made a hole in the end of fresh meat cartons and guiltily drank cold blood. Randy relaxes while taking in blood. She has a group of friends who see her in her dark basement apartment on a scheduled basis. They relax together as friends, one giving, Randy, receiving. I've read limited amounts of her work, never a full book. Her prose sucks. She reminds me of Stephen King; very lifeless writing. Good vocabularly; no blood. We can definitely agree about Stephanie Meyer though.
Having a weird fetish doesn't make vampires real. This is the point where I loose interest in this thread. lol
Wrong Stephen King is an outstanding writer and his short-story on vampires One for the Road is excellent Hotwater
Nah. His writing sucks when he does horror. 'Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption' and Dark Tower weren't bad. I'll check out this 'One for the Road' though, hoping that he can prove me wrong.
I totally agree that Rice has the inevitable bisexual thing going on all the time, but she has literary skill. She wrote a series pretty much about characters. I know there's plot, but that's hardly important in her books, do you know what I mean? I couldn't get past the 3rd book, though. haha
