Everyone has their own problems with America. One person will complain about not being able to marry who they want, another will complain about not being given money or opprotunities, and yet another will complain about people doing things they consider "bad." As for comparing America to a country like Denmark or Norway, there is a big difference between the two, namely that America actually does stuff. What does Denmark do? Answer: nothing. I'm not talking about "opressing" other countries and the like, but they are not a world power. If we were in the relative obscurity of Denmark, our country would be much better, mostly because the whole world wouldn't be focused on our every move. Some people on the forum are obviously more suited to living in a country like Denmark, and my advice is to go. if you don't like America, leave. We wont stop you, so go. I don't mean this in a mean way at all, because i have similar ideals to quite a few people on this forum, but I happen to enjoy living in America. Maybe it is because I am from a well off family, or maybe it is because I am a capitalist who dreams of ownning a business and being a sucessful and wealthy person. Whatever the reason, some people want to be in America, and others don't. If you don't, leave, if you do, stay, simple as that. There is a whole big world out there for people to live in, and I urge everyone to find the place that they enjoy. But, if you are going to wilfully remain in America, at least try to fix what you think is wrong. There is no way to deny that there are problems with America, so there is no use trying, but there is also no way to deny that the country has good aspect to it. If you find that there is no way to fix the problems in the country, then maybe America is not the place for you.

In my opinion, the real problem with America, and the world in general, is extremism. I completely disagree with the right wing extremist that belives that gays should not be able to marry, but I also completely disagree with the left wing extremist who belives that all conservatives should die or that anyone trying to stop a protest should be torn to shreds (I know that may not have been serious, i'm just using it as an example). The point is, we all need to compromise a little, and things will be a hell of a lot better for everyone. if we all just chill out (the government, the citizens, the businesses, EVERYONE) and give a little to get a little, America would be better for everyone. Not perfect (remember, compromise), but a lot better.

P.S. This post isn't directed at any specific person or issue, more just the whole 'America's Bad vs America's Good" thing in general.

I think it's about time the US stopped being a super power or "stupid" power. That alone would help things alot.I also agree that a big problem is "extremism"as mentioned in the post above.A more common sense way of dealing with issues is much better.Sometimes common sense falls in the 'middle.NOT the far left or the far right.

The problem with common sense, is that which is common isn't sense, and that which is sense isn't common.

I agree that the middle ground is usually the best, however, this country is a nation of extremes, and extremes are horrifying....

angels are just as terrifying as devils my friend, and eventually, the only difference between the two is whether they're helping you or smiting you at the time.

Thanks for your thoughts Mushroom Man. You summed it up in your first sentance.

I get so tired of immature brats that have no appreciation for what they have - no idea how shitty things could really be...
There will always be plenty of things to bitch about. People have to find
the goodness in things. Those of us with some experience know that
things can always be much worse than they are - at any given time.
I agree with your outlook. Opportunity for all. Peace.

You really think the United States is the only country to possess those freedoms? You are, thankfully, mistaken.

Calling on Godwin's Law a bit early in the thread, aren't you?
