Well first off, the other fellow needs to do anything that would ensure the safety of his family, take for example the only time that the Atom bomb has ever been used against a civilian population. What goes around, comes around.

The Atom bombs that were dropped on Japan took the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians. Killing these civilians did not save any one's life. And Japan was already whipped. The war was over. Your line of thinking is just a formula for retaliation. What goes around, comes around. If you thing that killing people who are Japanese is an appropriate way to get back at the Japanese military, then you are very wrong. And by the way, the attacks on civilians are illegal under Geneva, just like the torture methods that you have embraced. You need a long and hard look in the mirror.

Yeah ok buddy. If you knew anything about history Japan was not whipped and the next step for Allied forces would have been the invasion of Japan which would have cost millions of lives, military and civilian. Remember Japan attacked America so the people who volunteered for the military did so because America was attacked.

Where did I embrace torture? Saying that at times it may be necessary and embracing it are 2 very different things.

You have written "what goes around comes around" a couple of times now. What exactly do you mean by that?

    http://www.fpp.co.uk/History/Churchill/Japan_surrender_attempts/MS.html

FORMERLY SECRET FILES in London and Washington now reveal that Japan was trying to surrender, and had put out the most serious peace messages, three weeks before the atomic bombs were dropped; and that Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill, and the other Allied leaders were aware of this.

On July 8, the Department learned that the Japanese military attaché at Stockholm had told Prince Bernadotte over dinner that the Emperor Hirohito would ask Sweden's King Gustav to contact the Allies when the right time came, and that he had stated only one Japanese condition of surrendering: namely, that the Emperor himself remain in office. (This term was subsequently adopted by the Allies).
So even on this date it was plain that all American talk of a million soldiers losing their lives in an invasion of Japan was at best ill-informed, and at worst a deliberate deception of the British and American publics. It was obvious that there was not going to be any opposed invasion.

    A) I know the history of Japan
    B) You are a supporter of torture, i.e. you embrace torture
    C) That's an old Hindu concept. You most likely would not understand it

I don't have to do that. A federal judge is about to rule on the matter in five weeks.

lol That would be fine, Gina Lee, if you didn't happen to think Lucifer is an actual existing human being.

Need more details for the hypothetical to answer properly.

You forgot the magic word. Holy shit Sheela, so you really do think that. You know we want to hear who you think it is. Is it Obama? lol

What for? To torture their innocent families? Are the families of torturers guilty too? Maybe we're all guilty because we're all related?

Last three questions above to stormountainman are facetious. First one isn't. Curious more than anything else about this 'where they carried out the crime' thing.

Go back and read what I wrote. It is nothing to do with families. It is about military officers who carried out war crimes.

Where they carried out the crime is a matter of venue and jurisdiction. The Nazis were prosecuted at Nuremberg, because that was the appropriate venue. So US troops who commited war crimes should be tried in Baghdad, then hung in Baghdad just like the Germans were hung in Nuremberg.
