Quite true. So why would anyone defend John Boehner? He's no better than the rest.

For the record, I'm not a Pelosi fan either. I think she has done more damage to the Democratic Party than any other living human.

Good point. Have you ever been in a room with several rich and powerful people? Three of them can agree, if two are dead or unconscious.

Why single him out? He may not be any better than the rest, but he is also no worse than the rest.

You should have been letting that be known when she was in a position of exercising power.

Can sense be found in that statement? Agreement can be difficult to achieve regardless of the wealth one possesses depending upon the problem sought to be solved. Humans are most inflexible when it comes to changing their opinion of how others should think or act, or conforming their own thinking or actions to that desired by others.

I am saying Boehner is worse than the rest, with the possible exceptions of Mitch McConnell and Mike Pence. I can't remember the last time Boehner said anything that wasn't misleading.

I say we dont vote until we have reasonable and honest people running for office. Im tired of these paper chasing **** holes telling us what we want to hear rather than just their point of view. "I WILL make homes affordable, I WILL make the economy better, and I WILL open up more jobs" - get fucked, in all reality their hands are tied. Even though they mean well, there is little they can do without going through others that often times deny whatever theyre trying to get done.

Maybe Im just ignorant, Ill accept that too

Hopefully this will be a repeat of the republican takeover in the 90's...and they will show themselves to be the obstructionists that they are. Then America will turn against them and overwhelmingly elect democrats in 2012. It's just sad we have to go through this again as opposed to just moving the country forward. It's like 1 step forward 3 steps back in America, all these moronic teabaggers and wealthy industrialists are doing anything they can including lying and fearmongering to hold this country back from it's inevitable evolution.

Has anyone found out WHO wrote any of the bills passed? Obviously not any of the elected law makers.

My understanding is that law makers these days spend 90% of their time on fundraising. They don't even have time to sit with the policy experts. So legislation frequently gets written by lobbyists, and the law makers just vote the way their party leadership says to, and they find out what they voted for after it gets passed.

More and more, I think we're leading up to a second American revolution, but I would prefer it if people just got angrier and voted out the incumbents more often.

Agreed here! a great argument for a virtual House and Senate. Keep those representatives at home and away from our "Versalies on The Potomic" where lobbyists fester.

Prior to the Seventeenth Amendment, our Senators were chosen by the home state legislators.

    Is the current method Hyperdemocracy?

I would like to see the old way returned, Direct election of senators had been corruped by money and party leaders.

Would it really be any different? Lobbyists and campaign groups would just move more effort to the state assemblies. Plus the lobbyists in the senate itself would be there, it would just take away the direct mandate from the people. Not like the senate wasn't just as corrupt before hand too

Boehner recently said the American health care system is "the best healthcare system in the world". He expects poorly informed people to believe that.

I'm not setting high expectations for the new congress. But at least Queen Pelosi's private jet will be revoked.

I didn't think any of you would be among the poorly informed, but the US has the 37th best system in the world.
The only way Boehner's statement is even remotely true is if you add the phrase "for the rich":
Boehner recently said the American health care system is "the best healthcare system in the world" for the rich.
