It's safe? Lol No, I very much doubt that. Considering it is a foreign contaminate it could be safe, yes in all means. But it's HIGLY doubt full and would you really want to take those chances. Anyway, why would you still fruit them if it's a contaminate? It's not going to contain psilocybin. I wouldn't rip into someone if they got something wrong, but you are giving out dangerous information. I don't know where you found that it is safe, but it certainly isn’t.
it's not really all that dangerous of information. if you tried to fruit that nothing would happen, if all the green molds produced lbm's than we'd be fucked. I have had contaminated cultures fruit but they come in all colors of the rainbow.
For the record if I wanted to sterilize dirt: I'd add water and put it in a turkey bag and bake on 350 for two hours.
Yea, or place in a pillow bag and pressure cook. But the oven baking and pressure cooking is the most popular for sterilizing soil layer.
We weren't talking about which casing layer is better... He ordered a casing layer of "dirt" that's why we are referring to it. Anyway, normal verm casing layers are absolutely horrid (In my opinion). You are a lot better off doing a 50/50 mix. Or my personal favourite - 10% dehydrated manure, 40% straw, 50% coco coir. or 10% dehydrated manure, 40% vermiculite, and 50% straw The yield results are dramatically increased. If you are a beginner though, you are better off just doing a straight verm casing layer. I don't see how you think sterilizing "dirt" is harder. You can still can it and pressure cook it the same way as you do with verm.
good morning fellas, i sterilized the substrate(hay) in a giant pot over the stove. and the casing soil was microwaved. on the 5th page of the magic mushrooms forums, you can find a post i made called "kit inquiries." it has more specific details of the instructions for this kit. thanks again for everyone's contributions
If the mushroom mycelium has a good enough hold on the substrate, it WILL fruit. Not sure how else I could prove it to you. It's happened to me multiple times, and many other people I know... Over at the Shroomery they have determined that fruits from a contamed sub. are safe to eat. This has been determined through experimentation and a few very knowledgable mycologists that use those forums. Trust me, the Shroomery is very much dedicated to harm prevention when it comes to psychedelics and expecially mushrooms. Are you kidding me? Every mushrooms I have ever picked off a contamed cake was active. Unless there is an extreme nutrient defiecency, or bad genetics, you will be getting active fruits.
Gross and unnecesary at a minimum. And I prefer straight vermiculite. Oven bag for 2 hours at 350. (add water)
You can eat mushrooms off a contam cake/substrate if it fruits, just make sure it's dry as a bone first. The cake's just screwed more than likely and that crap will spread so keep it tf away from you and other cakes.
