This thread is making me think of a woman who works at a library I visit ocassionally.
I've gone there about 3 times. And everytime I'm there, so is she. Her hair has been a different color each time I go. First it was black, then brown, and then red. It is frizzy, dead looking-- goes a bit past her thin shoulders.
She wears enough perfume to knock out an angry wasp. It isn't really a pleasant smell. It just makes you realize that it's there.
She always has black eyeliner ringing her upper and lower lashes. She wears very dark lipstick, making the lines and wrinkles in her face look hard..
She could be in her late fourties to early fiftys. She is polite

She's one of those people. I just want to wipe everything off her face, smooth her hair, and tell her how beautiful she is.

I personally think females who I think have a rare kind of beauty(aka ugliness-patchy skin, scars, etc) should wear a bit of chemicals on their face to enhance themselves. As for hairy legs, i personally don't think any man in the America would like that(there's always a special someone for everyone). It is sad how trendy folks try to conform to society by getting breast implants, facial surgery, etc. Or maybe some people grew fond of themselves at the early age and want to look the same??? ehhh..

I don't shave during the colder times since I don't wear shorts... my boyfriend doesn't mind. I really wish I didn't have to shave at all, but during the summer its kinda uncomfortable and akward sitting there with my girlfriends and hairy legs abare.

    the more you know:

makeup is actually used by females trying to look like they're having sex....

think about it: During intercourse a female's cheeks flush (blush), fingernails brighten (nail color/polish), and eyes whiten (mascara for contrast). My environmental teacher told me this, but I'm still not sure about the whole fingernail thing. Seems to make sense though.

This is a mixed bag for me. While some things I let go natural (shaving my legs, for instance), I do not feel shame in wanting to color my hair to cover gray. It is one's own personal choice, both sides throwing arguments and claims, I do what I want that makes me feel good about myself. They pretty much fall under both spectrums, but I live my life for me and try not to label myself.

I agree. I'm completely natural. Only for special occasions do I wear any makeup or do my hair and that's only to "enhance" because I am already beautiful! And when I do I tell my sister not to put too much makeup on or straighten my hair that long. I hate straightening my hair. I like the way it looks, but I can hear it screaming D:

Sometimes I do think "Oh, maybe people will like me more if I do..." but then I just push it aside and continue to love my naturality.

... I got purple hair. Boycott unnatural beauty? I say boycott making people's decisions for them. Let people be who they are. Let me have my purple hair.

I have no problem with your purple hair, or anyone's for that matter. You use your body as a canvas and that's great. I just don't like it when people do stuff like that or wear a lot of makeup just to join in with the latest trend or because they feel they have to to look good.

as a teenager, i am constantly bombarded with the whole extreme makeup bullshit. i know people who get up two hours early every morning to shower, blow dry their hair, then curl/straighten it, then apply at least six different kids of makeup products, add some overpowering perfume, and then go to school.
    it's disgusting.
i just use coverup when i'm breaking out and MAYBE some eyeliner, never curl or straighten or blow dry my hair, never tan, never bullshit myself into thinking that i need that stuff.
the only thing that i do use in your list of things to boycott is hair dye. when i'm dying it a natural color (really rare) i use henna dye, but during the summer i dye it unnatural colors (blue, blood red, etc.) and i don't object to that. dying my hair is not a way to feel "more beautiful" or whatever, it's a way to express myself and experiment with people's reactions.

I agree with this completely...I'm pretty natural. My hair is it's natural dark color (however I like to henna my hair in the summer ) and I don't use chemicals to straighten it.
    As far as makeup goes...
I love eye makeup because it's really fun to play with color and I love the shimmery powder or cream bronzer because it enhances my skins natural brown tone and it looks great in the sunlight :)

I gave it all up years ago. I got tired of trying to be something I'm not. And you know, without makeup I get more compliments, people think I am younger and say I look better! Now I look in the mirror and I see ME and I like myself. Why did I ever waste my,time, money, and well being on all this useless garbage. I got caught up in the phoneyness and competition of women at work and relatives so desperate to 'fit in' . Boy am I glad I was enlightened! Beauty comes from within,as I learned, but I wish I had learned it earlier in life. The most beautiful women are natural, content, and glow from within, they have an innocence and earthy wisdom. No cosmetic or grooming implement can replace that!

I just watched this show last night about women who were actually addicted to cosmetic surgery, and this one lady, married, with a small boy, got an alteration which composed of $55,000. This surgery cost her family to move out of their home and relocate. It was a beautiful house. More of a mansion, actually. And she was beautiful even before she got the surgery. And I mean, she really was beautiful, even in USA media/propaganda standards. She had nothing wrong with her. She had some sort of disorder which made her think she was all screwed up physically.. I think it was called Body Dysmorphic Disorder or something.
    So sad.

i use organic and natural makeup. fondation and powder that are 99.9% natural and i use a tiny amount of eyeliner and mascara because without eyemakeup i look alittle dead, haha. i also work at a hair salon and i see some of the women that come in and are orange with leathery skin and bleach-blonde, basically white, hair. its discusting and i hate that its considered beautiful to wear caked on bronzer, fondation and whatnot..and eyeliner so thick and black you look like a raccoon. im glad that the "natural" look is starting to make a comeback though..its time for people to love themselves for who they are and not hate themselves for who they aren't and can never be.

    lol .. ummm ... what???

But I guess it's true that lipstick was first used by prostitutes to advertise that they specialized in oral sex. I think that's hilarious.

I just turned 44. I've got a few gray hairs coming in here and there, and I say ... bring 'em on! I'm not coloring my hair or hiding the gray. No botox. No fake boobs or butt or anything else. Who the hell would I be trying to fool?

I maintain my youth, if you want to put it that way, by working out and by keeping an open mind. I have twin daughters who turn 20 this year ... they help a lot. As does coming to this forum, I have to say ...

I mostly prefer a more natural look in a woman, but I don't mind a little tastefully applied mascara and eyeliner.
I'll admit I have a thing for lip liner though...;)
