what the heck?^^ haha Im just kidding. But I agree with what you guys are saying. Im not a big fan of 'beauty' products...especially the advertising that goes with it. No wonder why people are so insecure about themselves in this culture: "Cover up embarrassing greys.." "'Now that I used Hair Growth for Men, I can get out of the house again!'" "Shed ugly extra pounds with...." "'I finally feel beautiful again after using Wrinkle eraser!'"
I love Ivory soap, I loved their shampoo, it was the only thing I could shampoo daily with when I was working for plant nurseries and still have any body. They discontinued it. I've yet to find another shampoo that works as well. No special product is really going to make you feel better about yourself. I've got the winkles and gray hair that come with age, covering it up is like lying about your weight on your driver's license...don't think they can see what you weigh when they look at you?
They didn't discontinue the soap, they stopped making shampoo. Which was really great shampoo. As far as I know they still make soap. I tried it on my hair, not the same, so I've stopped buying their soap too. Maybe they don't make soap either. Don't really know.
ah soo good to know there are people who think like i do. i HATE unnatural beauty products. i refuse to dye my hair, put product in it, wear make up and when i do use things like face wash i always make sure it only contains natural things. plus i think that plastic surgery should only be used when it is really needed, like when someone has been in a serious accident, not for vanity or some stupid idea that men like big fake breasts. its insane. it really saddens me to think how image crazy people are, and its like its spreading from the us to the uk. i will never wear make up, i will never dye my hair, i will never ever have cosmetic surgery. i can understand wanting to look your best, but to do that you do not need chemicals! just being a happier person shows on the outside. keep fighting the opression of real beauty! xxx
I think eventually down the road, the people of the future would laugh at us. I mean, think now: everyone laughs at the middle ages, for example, where they would use tons of makeup to make them look pale and their hair would be all funky, but back then people thought it was normal. So in the future (assuming the world wont end for a while ) the people would be like "in the 2000's the people were so weird! fake breasts, hair die?? WTF??" Ya know?
actually, back to the botox thing, a friend of my mums used to have botox, then one day she got eye cancer and she eventually died. she swears it was because of botox. blessings xxx
it wouldn't surprise me...somehow injecting a toxic poison into my face doesn't strike me as being too smart.
I was talking about Pete Burns with some friends earlier... we said we were going to take a needle to his face and pop his lips like a balloon...
Yeah man, it's good to see most folks are into the natural beauty thing, that's where I'm at. I'm amazed at how huge the cosmetics industry is, and it doesn't really suit any purpose other than to fulfill some hollow sense of vanity. Furthermore, it's just extra crap to add to the landfills. Women who wear makeup are phony.
I agree honeyfugle! actually, during the summer holiday I always go travelling by myself and never wear make-up of course, while at home I used to wear mascara and eyeliner and well not even that much (although when I was younger I felt pushed to use conceiler and blusher too..). so last year when I came back from holiday, people actually told me I looked tired, and when I put on make-up again they told me how good I looked.. friends are very influential as well! this year no one said a thing about me not wearing make-up anymore and I feel so free! don't even get me started about the looks and comments I get when I pull out my baking soda and apple cider vinegar which are about the only cosmetics I use (and of course natural oils ).. beauty standards are fucked
What about all the carcinogens in makeup? I love how Avon is all about Finding A Cure for breast cancer... Shouldnt they stop selling makeup pumped with all kinds of chemicals then?! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I also think I look alot better without makeup. If I do need to dress up my face, then Ive been using a tea bag to get a bit of colour (I always ask my hubby if he can tell the difference... he cant... but It makes me feel polished!) I will use Mascara.. And I made honey and olive oil lipgloss which apparantly gives me Angelia Jolie lips! Nothing I ever bought gave that effect before! Peace to all the natural beauties who arent afraid to shine
To each their own. I like wearing makeup and dye my hair just because. I like to experiment with my look and that is one easy (non-permanent) way to do it. It's not like getting a nose job to change your appearance. I used to never wear makeup or do anything with my hair... but I just cycled out of it (it's a bipolar thing). So I know both sides of this issue! I don't wear makeup to impress anyone or b/c I think I'm ugly without it. I wear it because I enjoy spending a couple extra minutes on myself. I don't cover my face in it or try to hide something. It just polishes my look. It's a personal choice and I respect those who choose not to wear makeup. Beauty lies within, not in a bottle! Even though I wear makeup, I believe the cosmetic companies profit off of women by training young women they need makeup to be beautiful and keep this brainwashing going throughout life. I see anti-wrinkle shit on TV and the models might be 5 to 10 years older than me, at the most. I can't imagine why a 28 year old would be obsessed with a couple lines that no one else notices. Women need to learn to love their bodies and recognize their own beauty. Those who know they are beautiful without makeup are only enhanced when wearing it. However, if a woman tries to cover up perceived flaws with layers of makeup, this looks trashy. Love thyself first! Peace and love
I'm not anti-make up by anymeans. Well, that's an understatement. I wear eyeliner as a tie to my interest in the Egyptian culture, a people known for their use of makeup for the sake of magic and spiritual purposes (a concept that is not lost on me). However, yeah, anti-aging creams and whatnot are mostly disgusting. And expensive. And grey hair is cute. I dont know why people wanna cover it all up.
i have dark brown natural hair which i adore, but i am not worried about going grey, because of my natural colour which i have always kept, it should fade into a dark silver. thats what im hoping dont hide the grey, it is truely stunning! i like to think of it as a sign of wisdom blessings xxx
the thing is though, not everyone dies their hair or wears makeup to look like a little conforming barbie. I LOVE dying my hair crazy colors and wearing wierd makeup as a way of expression and using my body as a canvas.
