Well, we all know that whenever Obama has tried to be bipartisan, the GOP has responded with -- nothing.

You mean just like Democrats and Obama? They're all a bunch of partisan hypocrites, Sunfighter. Not even a decade ago all these fucks push were saying the exact opposite of what they are now. Take off your blinders.

Has "Mr. Obama" enrolled in his ACA insurance/tax yet? Will the obama "village" eat their own cooking? Again , Rule of Law. The citizenry is compelled to submit to federal control of the nation's health ; will the first family lead the way?

Democrats have compromised time and time again and the GOP has responded with -- nothing.

Really? So all those quotes from Obama, Reid and the like about not being willing to negotiate with the GOP were examples of bipartisanship and compromise? Are you really this blind?

I am not saying the GOP is any better, Sunfighter, but that your beloved Dems are just as fucking bad.

I don't believe you really believe that. You know well that his refusal to negotiate with hostage-takers applied only to this recent situation. Your hate is showing.

Hostage-takers. Another example of the stunning amounts of compromise and bipartisanship exhibited by this administration and the Dem leadership.

My hate? Yes, I hate what our country and those who govern it have become.

Hostage-taking is what it was. The GOP has caused 24 billion dollars of damage to our struggling economy just because they cannot accomplish what they want thru legislation or elections.

Hostage taking is not what it was. In this case, the only thing the GOP members of congress did in this case was put up a fight, and you wearing your partisan goggles demonize them for it. You would blindly have them roll over and caste aside their political ideology because they aren't the majority and don't control the White House? Did you expect the Dems to do the same when Bush was in office? You're as big a hypocrite as all those assholes on the Hill.

The Tea Party leaders get on Fox News and talk radio and say that compromise is for losers; a pathetic sign of weakness and lack of ideological conviction. If anybody from the left notices that they don't compromise, and mentions it, that somehow becomes an accusation. Then those guys will run for re-election next year and boast in speeches to their base about how they stood their ground and never offered to compromise on anything.

Sunfighter didn't say that we offered to compromise on everything, or on this specific issue of funding the government for the short term.

We came nowhere close to default during those eight years.

If the Democrats had threatened a government shutdown and national default, I would have been strongly against that. So, I don't know why you are calling me a hypocrite.

If it gets them elected, so be it. Dems are just as guilty of playing politics like this as well. I am just sick and tired of the disgusting "its only wrong when they do it" attitudes.

Right, he just claimed the Dems were willing to compromise time and time again, which flies in the face of what many of Dem leaders actually said, at least at first. Then reality sunk in for both sides....

I wasn't talking, specifically, about a default in this case. I was talking about the tactics used my GOP members of congress to fight what they felt was bad legislation.

I am calling you a hypocrite because I doubt your sincerity.

Don't let politics turn you into a bitter old cynic. The internet doesn't need another one.

As President Obama just said, "If you want change, win an election." Don't hold the economy hostage.

This attitude is just pathetic and is exactly why this country is going to shit. It shows a basic ignorance when it comes to just how the legislative branch, and our government as a whole, was meant to function.

If you think that the way to create legislation is to hold the economy hostage to force thru the views of a minority, then it is you who has a pathetic understanding of our Constitution.

The minority is the minority. They should not be able to pass their bills unless they get a sufficient number of votes from the other side of the aisle. What about that don't you understand?
