well im not sure if hes confused between branding and scarification....branding is pretty much like when they mark a cows ass....heat up the metal pattern and burn it into the flesh...scarification is cut into the flesh by a sharp instrument.

 

actuly branding is a type of scarification,scarification is just a way of making a scar and there lots of ways to do it, some ways are cutting,branding/strike brand,chemical burns
