my whole point is that to say technology and superior firepower guarantees victory is false.

it was proven false in afghanistan with russia ,vietnam with the united states,and i dare say iraq.

we havent achieved victory in iraq we have relegated the fighting to mercenaries so as to keep the deaths of american soldiers down and create the illusion of victory.we havent achieved anything there.

All of you who previously said that a peaceful resistance is stupid and implausible please take into account the history of Ghandi and his resistance. Not to mention the words taught by some of the greatest philosophical thinkers in history. If given the time and space to work and grow peace would work. A people who won't obey but won't fight can't be put down, they shoot a few but more just keep comin', they hang a few and we just keep chantin' give peace a chance, this country doesn't need another war, it needs peace.

What are you gonna do after you overthrow the government? Where you gonna get your money? What makes you think that other countries would help us after the initial government is gone? How many of you can actually think up a workin' constitution? A workin' philosophy to run this dyin' country? If peace wasn't the best option then what were all these men talking about? Why has the dream of so many throughout the years been about this world peace??

i have worked construction my entire life and i cant count the number of vaults and reload rooms in houses i have seen.

with a FFL you can pretty much own ANYTHING the military owns.

hell i have a neighbor who legally owns and on occasion fires a old artillery cannon.

what makes you think other countries are going to help period? we have effectively ruined the economy of the entire world through the fraud of derivatives. research AIG and you will be shocked to see the entire worlds pension systems were invested in them.

as obama is increasing the size of our military by 100,000 troops. recruiting the youth who have no other option due to the economy and then sending them off to die in afghanistan and iraq. if one must die for a cause,why not the cause of freedom in our own country rather than the control of oil in another?

Any citizen is technically militia.

These "paranoid" ideas are not a way to fight the government, but to protect myself if it all falls apart, it would seem that people are not acknowledging that it could happen.

In a world with no law a peaceful protest to someone who doesn't share the values of love and peace is nothing more than a dense target of opposition, while I do believe in and participate in civil disobedience I think it only works when there is law to protect those "fighting" for what they believe in.

In a world with no law who will protect you guys when you all do a sit in to protest the armed violent people who want to kill you anyway, your just making it easier.

If I have to fight to survive ill do just that, they will have to kill me while I defend myself I will not let them have it easy.

 

Whether you actually feel this way or not, it is a very close minded ideaology. Why doesn't peace work today? Because there are so few people who actually want peace. Why hasn't peace worked in the past? It has people just don't like to remember it because it seems so much more heroic and entertaining to remember the war mongers. Peace doesn't work because of people who think like this argument you just brought to the table. Open your minds to peace and work for it with all your heart and you'll see what happens.

 

There wassn't an established law to protect Ghandi and his followers. What you afraid to die for peace, but not for death and destruction?

How can you fight violence with peace?

I empathize I wish there was world peace, however I think you need civilization/government to organize the general chaos of peoples lives to work towards a shared goal (Assuming everyone is on board)

If it was to all break down and your neighbors busted into your home to steal your food, and take your water, or your car and gasoline would you just let it happen?

Would you ignore your biological instinct to "fight or flight" and if you flee, where will you go? Why is defending yourself a bad thing?

also I am not speaking of war, I am speaking strictly on defense. If SHTF I want to be ready.

 

Yes I would let people just take from me, I have before and in the end I am always rewarded with greater than I have had before. If a man must take my life to get what he wants thats on him. I'll be reborn into a new body to start a new life anyway. Once again there was general chaos when Ghandi did his peaceful protests for India, and in the end his protesting is one of the main reasons India finally gained independance.

ive worked to damn hard for what i have to let some peacenick who feels my views are narrow minded come here and sit on his hands and do nothing while someone comes armed to take what is rightfully mine.
quite frankly i find that philosophy laughable and asking to be taken advantage of.

while i am not promoting the overthrow of our government i do as with hippiemcraver encourage all to prepare for what is coming,to arm themselves and come up with a plan to defend what is rightfully theirs till death if that is what it takes.

I'm not sure how tight these malitia groups are to be fair, so this is just what I think will occur based on my opinion of human nature.
Far from being a "band of brothers and sisters" malitia groups will end up fighting amongst themselves and far from protecting each other people, will end up looking after number one and then number two...themselves and their family.
If indeed America does go tits up, do you have that a lack of faith in you fellow human being that even military folk will not look after themselves and their families?
