Recent polls show the vast majority of Americans are NOT in favor of easing stay-at-home restrictions and "opening up." The number of cases may be leveling off in some big cities that followed the stay at home orders, but new cases are popping up all around the country where governors (Republicans, BTW) didn't - and won't - put any restrictions on travel or going out & conducting business. Conducting business and making money won't mean anything when more people start dying. States that are more rural have much, MUCH less capacity and ability to handle large numbers of very sick people. it's already being seen in some rural locations - and it'll only get worse as things "open up."

Big hurry to get the profit margins up again - not much CLEAR thought as to how to keep the corona virus spread down.

Trump only put people in his "administration" like his relatives and "yes men" who kiss his ass. If anyone speaks truth-to-power ………….. they're OUT. I wonder how many of his "I only hire the best people" are gone voluntarily or by being fired - his favorite word. I've never seen such a turnover in any administration in my lifetime. Not even close. I firmly believe some of the ones that left by their own decision did so because they didn't want to be associated with Trump's shit-show. Smart move by those folks!!!

Also, I'm worried about commuters. For instance, in my area there aren't that many cases. No sooner do we open something then we have a lot of people from other places. It's as though if you open one area, you should think about the status of surrounding areas too. Because people can drive over any time they want.

Don't get upset Sierra at the Pelosi comparison. Trump was blaming the Chinese for corona virus, and so some truly brainless "tough guys" started harassing and roughing up some Chinese-heritage people in Chinatown. Pelosi went there to assure the citizenry that those aren't the Chinese people to lay blame on.

But some in the radical right took that one sentence and turned it into a political "gotcha" sound-byte for their own purposes. This is the type of thing where education, paying close attention to facts, seeing and listening to the WHOLE broadcast, and thinking through the slimy, murky, ooze of the radical right is imperative.

As said, the monster is only a symptom. No majority will get what they really want in your country. Everyone has to settle for the final candidate of one of the two parties. It will be about minimizing loss and obstruct the 'other side' from getting what they want. Your votes do not even count the way they should in a proper functioning democracy. That it worked before doesn't mean it will continue to work as fine as it once did. It's quite obvious it won't. People have lost faith and right fully so. The system does not work for them.

People who are seriously misguided do not necessarily lack empathy.

  16. Bingo. Heads or Tails of the same nickel. Members of the same country clubs. Vote for pay raises, for themselves. Both sides just gave $20 million to Ruth's Chris (Global) Steakhouse. Like they are living hand to mouth.

It didn't save any jobs. However, since it was supposed to go to businesses below 500 employees, it's a real slap on the face for the hundreds of non-millionaire small businesses who might have retained staff if they had only gotten $20,000 or $40,000 of that.

This has been a massive filter where the small businesses go right down the drain.

Yes, often. Also, im sure its empathy in some instances that make people protest against it. There are consequences either way. Some are most concerned about the consequences of the lockdown.

Right on! The real tyrants of history have lacked all three of these characteristics. Some of us continue to believe that the brotherhood, sisterhood of humankind is not so wild a dream.
