My fantasy life is ten times more interesting than real life, and for that, only I am to blame. But dreaming, for me, is far more interesting than working. This may be a sign of middle age. Walter Mitty was right.

You don't have to lead an interesting life, just have an interesting imagination. :D

To be a good writer is to understand life.

    Depends on what you write.

It also helps to be well read and think outside the box.

I have an digustingly boring life, my writing is my mind going insane with boredom, letting it run free.

i haven't the slightest idea how true or false that is. i've met, i think a fairly large number of what i consider to be interesting writers. writers who'se stuff i've found interesting. but i can't claim to have ever known any of them personally well enough to say how interesting or otherwise any of their actual lives actually were and are.

i do know that i find most mainstream writers boring, and most of them claim to have lived "interesting" lives. the trouble is, "interesting' is a very much in the eye of the beholder kind of a concept.

personally i don't find alcohaulic bullies "interesting" at all. but then i've never found any of the writers i like, to turn out to have been alcohaulic bullies either.
