i voted yes. that said, i think strange things are interesting. I'd rather hear from someone who has tried things and failed, than hear from someone who has never tried anything at all.
I agree...I can't stand to hear people talk about, or read about, how they couldn't do this, because of this, this, and this. And that's all they do: complain. Complain abotu their circumstances that prohibited them from doing something, and they don't even try to see if they can overcome something. I'd much rather read about someone who tried somethign and failed...that's way more interesting.
False: The key to becomming a good writer is to study the language you intend to write in, ready lots of good books, and have a good imagination (if your not very imaginitive, then you can do something interesting and write about it, or find something interesting to write about).
I think it's more of having an interesting mental life. It helps to be able to escape real life for the period of time that you're writing and just become part of the world you are writing about. My life is so "boring" but it's not exactly climbing huge cliffs with no ropes or jumping from planes either. I do have this greatly apreciated ability that allows me to get into what I'm writing and feel like I'm there, in my head of course.
i think everyone lives an interesting life, no matter how boring you think it may be. the grass is always greener...
I agree totally with what you are saying...but not a lot of people see it that way. I've met some people who just think their life is so boring, their life sucks, etc., and I've never thought that about my life. Even in the boringest of days, I can usually find one thing, maybe just one little tiny thing that I find interestting. Life is never boring. You just have to be observant and curious to find the interesting things about life - yes, even everyday life.
it doesnt matter what you do all day, you can stare at a white wall untill your eyes bleed because you are so dull and boring. if you are a good writer, you are interesting. that is having an interesting life. if its not interesting, you are probably the common person who hasnt figured out your right way of looking at things. it takes a good eye to write
I said false, because to me its not all about the life you live, its the inspiration you find around you, the people and places that effect your writing.
Well, what if you live a boring life and because of that never go outside of your house? What if you never experience the outside world, never talk to people, etc...I don't think you'd make a very interesting writer.
you dnt need an interesting life to b an interesting or good writter....lets take emily dickinson she lived mostly her whole life inside house away from people and she wrote amazing poems...heres one, probly one of my fav. There is a solitude of space There is a solitude of space A solitude of sea A solitude of death, but these Society shall be Compared with that profunder site That poar privacy A soul admitted to itself- Finite Infinity. -Emily Dickinson
Hmmm, many great writers have gone to hell and back. And many great writersd have lived a life of tranquility and have done marvelous works.
i'd have to say false. look at the 'harry potter' series...written by a single mum sitting around her boring flat, eeking out a living on the dole...but she had an outstanding imagination.
Hemingway said, "Write what you know." Now let's suppose your life is in no way interesting. You get up five days in every seven, go to a job you could care less about, and return to a spouse you could care less about. That's not exactly material for a story, is it? The least you can do (I'm stealing a line from a Woody Allen movie) is go to a whorehouse. Tell the girl (if it's a she) you're gathering material for your next novel. This might turn out to be a true statement. Failing that, try and climb a mountain. If you don't fall off, you'll probably have something worth writing about. Been there. Done that.
