I've read in the psychedelic forums that "The End" has that effect on a lot of people, it's just a great song.

oh i have to say, when im really fkn high, i love to turn on power metal like Helloween. theyre an under-aknowleged band.. i just love their stuff so much, whoever mixes their shit is the best mixer of all metal. it really takes me into another sorta place, and i get so euphoric , it takes me into a supercharged musical psychological vortex of power. yeh i was just thinkning how theres all this typical trippy music but really certain metal takes me into anotehr dimension just like traditional 'trippy' stuff does
I was never able to get into any metal, myself. I find that it sounds too choppy and disorganized. But I guess that would be a pretty trippy quality during a psychedelic experience. Definitely not for smoking weed, IMO.
there is a very large spectrum of metal. thing i love about helloween style metal is that its not over distorted (it is overdriven.. but it doesnt sounds harsh you know, just powerful.. ) or screaming(sometimes the voice is harsh) or dark or anything, its operatic, energising, brilliant..hence 'power metal'
I can see how a person could be energized, refreshed, and pumped up from some metal, but I could just never listen to it for too long without becoming overly annoyed. I'm sure alot of people would say the same about the music I listen to.
