Bwahahahahaha you think slipknot is death metal! I supose you think H.I.M. is grind core. Shitknot are numetal/mallcore. Try realy hard to understand: numetal is not metal. Numetal is to metal what show tunes are to opera. Listen to Alters of Madness by Morbid angel, then listen to anything by shitknot, if you think that they are playing the same genre cut off your ears because they are useless.

    Now to the rest:
System of a Down - Mallcore(which is not metal)
Alice In Chains - Grunge (which is a kind of hard rock, not metal)
Disturbed - Nu-Metal (which is not metal)
Coal Chamber - Nu-Metal (which is not metal)
Mudvayne - Nu Metal(see what I said about shitknot)
Mushroomhead - numetal/mallcore(which is not metal)
Soulfly - nu metal (which is not metal)
Korn - Nu-Metal(which is not metal)
    Rob Zombie - Industrial rock
    tool - numetal/experimental
ratm - Rap Rock(which is not metal)
marilyn manson - Rock with metal influences(which is not metal)
Skid Row - Hard Rock Hair Band

Oh really, is that why I think khanate plays metal yet no one was playing that style when I started listening to metal?
As for Darkthrone, if you think they are let down by the quality of their recordings then you just don't understand real blackmetal. Blackmetal is suposed to have raw evil grim production to create atmosephere and to create a sort of resonation similure to that found naturaly in Indian music on such instuments as the sitar. Almost all of Darkthrones albums have excelent production well suited to the music except some of the newer ones where the production is too clean. Clean(bad) production hinders, not helps, grim black metal.

It would be rather hard to come up with a precise definition. Can you? I have heard a shitload of metal from a shitload of different genres, so I generaly just use comparison to determine if something is metal and what kind of metal it is. For the record I don't just say things that I like are metal and things that I don't like aren't. That would be stupid. For example, pantera and canibal corpse are both definitly metal bands and I don't much care for either of them.

I only ask because you've decided to tell people what is, an what isn't metal, so I presumed that you held some sort of checklist that you might have been able to share so that none of these guys make the mistake of thinking one of their favorite bands are metal.

    one album - disasterpiece.

    you cheeky fucking cuntrag.

    haha, leave my ears alone

as i've already written, in THIS day and age the genre METAL is not the be all and end all of heavy music. many SUB-GENRES of metal DO exist, i suggest you try and accept that. these sub genres will undoubtedly differ in sound, but they are all sub-genres of METAL and that's pretty much the end of it really. "none of these are TRUE metal" - you're 30 years old for fuck's sake, try maturing a little.

and darkthrone recordings are fucking diabolical, accept it and get over it. "grave with a view" - sounds like someone's spent a quid on a fucked-up second hand phaser machine and fed the song through it.

so, what do you make of THE BERZERKER?? or deicide? are they not metal enough for you either?

I realy don't know where you get this idea that I eever said there were not subgenres. Of coarse there are subgenres and I never said otherwise. But the fact that there are subgenres doesn't magicaly make every hard rock band a metal sub genre.
Taking cheap shots at my age realy makes you the one that needs to grow up.
Yes, Darkthrones production is diabolical, that is an apt word and is the point that you seem to be missing. It sounds more evil when produced that way and they do it on perpose.
Finaly, I have no idea what I wrote that would give you the impression that I don't think The Berzerker or Deicide are metal. Neither are one of my favorites, but that is beside the point and they of coarse are metal. Like I said in a previous post, I am not just saying that bands I don't like arn't metal. Their are plenty of bands I don't like that I consider metal.

    points taken into account.

however, soulfly are metal, as are sepultura. i fail to see how you can class them as anything else.

Soulfly. I blame them for the destruction of the force that was Sepultura. WHY MAX?!

Both bands are good, but neither are as good as Sep was before the calavera bros split up, I'm sure everyone can agree on that.

i went to sleep to the chaos A.D. album last night lol shortly after posting the above comment.
Sep's new black singer has got nothing on Max. instrumentally though, Dante XII isn't that bad.

Sepultura were going shit before max left, Roots isn't the greatest album. And most of Soulfly is pretty poor, good moments there just doesn't seem enough substance.
