Top 5 Metal bands

Some of Dir en Grey's earlier work isn't metal but a lot of their newer stuff is.

 

Well I havn't heard a lot of it, just what i could find in a 30 minute search around online. However, if anything it's more emo'ish than anything imo.

Thats just my opinion, I'm kind of a metal traditionalist of sorts. Anyhow, cheers!

The best variety of metal. And no I'm not trying to listen to just 'underground metal,' I also listen to what most people consider mainstream such of CoB.. I just prefer this to the more known bands because talent does not equal being famous.

I guess they're not Metal. After all they don't play generic riffs on downtuned guitars, with lyrics aimed at mindless losers in their 20's. Oh and they don't need to try and pull off mindless, uber-fast, pointless solos to prove their instrumental prowess. Oh, and you can't forget how their guitarist almost never solos. No way could they be a metal band!

2. Converge
Best. Fucking. Metalcore band ever. <3 Homewrecker off Jane Doe.

3. Porcupine Tree:
See King Crimson. Metallica wishes they could write riffs as heavy as the ones in Shallow or Anesthetize.
