I went ahead and voted for Jethro Tull. I like every one of those bands, and many other progressive rock bands, but Jethro Tull is second to very little in my little world. :)

    >Its a matter of taste, all of them were great, each band made their way in the prog rock history, they were all pioneers, for me like I said, Its a matter of taste.

Ok, sorry, but I have to correct myself. The band I was asking about is not called Megalon, it is called Gamalon. I am listening to AOL radio, and they are on right now on the prog station. I have videos of these guys somewhere, and they are absolutely amazing. Anyone here ever heard of them? Now that I know the correct name, I was able to find them on Myspace and elsewhere, and they are still in action.

don't think they get a lot of radio play, not even on classic rock channels. check them out! their earliest album is from 1968

i think this part of the forum probably is the best to discuss that genre of music, you can try the metal section though. I think never saw anyone discussing bands like opeth, which is a pity. they are GOOD!

you might call us ignorant, but loving progressive music isn't about copy-paste the right stuff from the right site(wiki? or progarchives?). you don't even have to know all the subgenres and their most recognizable bands to be into prog (what's so special to being into prog anyway besides the affection you feel for the music?). its just about wether or not you like a certain band.

why have those genres no musical meaning BTW? just because you don't feel like it is elitist enough? sorry to state that, but you do make this impression. if you want to be around people who know about prog go to a prog forum!

BTW tnx for the correction on the date of krimsons first album! :H :&

Uh, this is a prog forum. I wasn't trying to be insulting. My friend wrote the article on another forum. But I know plenty about Prog.

i've figured that by now, :) its really cool that you do. at your age i was just getting into hendrix, though i have been listening to pink floyd for all of my life.

but you know a lot about it, does this also mean you like it all?
sometimes you happen to know about more music than you actually loike which can always turn out to be handy to discover new music that is worth listening to

the thing about prog is, its the greatest genre of music that exists, but there only exist about 3 bands that have been able to make it right. everything else is just fumbling in the dark...
