Oh jeez. I am competlely inlove with Tool. The guys voice is amazing. I love it. My new favorite song happens to be H. from Aenema (spelling). It's amazing. My favorite lyric is And as the walls come down And as I look in your eyes My fear begins to fade Recalling all of the times I have died and will die.
I was planning on typing up a detailed review of each Tool album I have (all besides Opiate and Salival), but after reading and reading and reading all of that stuff about Sublime, my whole mood changed. I made a playlist full of Marley, Sublime, Stoopid, G-love and the Special Sauce, and Pepper.....Rolled a blunt and am in the process of fading myself into the music. As far as finding the true meaning of the songs, like "The Pot" for example....It doesn't really matter to me what was going on in Maynards head when he wrote the song. To me thats not what music is about. I take the lyrics and write my own definitions of what was said. I put it into my own perspective and find my own meaning. To me, 'The Pot' is about the world pointing their finger and critisizing you for smoking 'erb. They look at the "drug" as a turd on societies dinnerplate, when soooo many truly wrong wrongdoings aren't even being frowned upon. Hypocrazy. Yes Hypocrazy. Theres not a typo....its crazy! If I heard Maynard himself tell me that he wrote the song about something completely different, my thoughts on the song would not change....Thats the way my ears hear it.
The Pot is an amazing song, what got me loving tool even more and i cant WAIT to see them live, not with mama though.... i loove the bass and the drums to that song, its really out there to me and i agree with the statement up there, thats what i would think hes writing about..
dude, totally, that how i can listen to bands from other countries (i.e. Dir en grey, Rammstein) its all about the emotion you feel when you listen to the song. as for Tool im kinda sick of listening to people trying to stick them into a genre, ill clear it up. Tool is a fluid living musical experience! it escapes all bounds their is nothing that can hold them down. why do you think their music never seems to get old? idk some people dont get it but i never get sick of any song from "Die Eier Von Satan" to "Jambi" and even "Jerk-Off". Tool is my favorite band they are just too talanted and free thinking to be liars. o btw i saw them in hartford CT and they were the best show ever! everyone started to smoke their pot when "the Pot" started although im not sure that son is about pot itself maybe about some pothead who is a dick. oh well "learn to swim" (Tool, and Bill Hicks)
tool rocks and all, but im not about to write a 5000 word essay about them. lets just say thank god for youtube since they dont play their vids on tv anymore
i freaking love tool. i just got the 10,000 days album.. its not as good as others.... but pretty good listening.
Rosetta Stoned... live... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9mqtAG9P-4 Watch. It's the only Tool song I like though.
Everything up until 10,000 days is amazing. That album and maynard's opinion on stealing music is bullshit. The album blows compared to what they've put out before. They go from creating a template to thinking for yourself and questioning the void and all in it, to songs about his dying mother and jesus, Fuck that shit, fuck tool.
I think I may have already said this, but they I like them more with every release. Therefore 10,000 days is my favourite, with the title track probably being my favourite track. Can make me cry that song. That manly man that I am.
Where did you get the green jelly? Ive been meaning to listen to them, but ive never had the chance...
The video to "three little pigs'' is on my myspace page. http://www.myspace.com/caressmedown420 That's all I've got
I saw the video for 'stinkfist' a couple of days ago. It was fantastic! But I was only watching, not paying attention to the music much (in fact, the sound was off), so I still can't make a judgement.
