Tool

Don't even get me started on Tool. They're amazing. Their songs all rock, though most of my favorites are on the Aenima and Lateralus albums. I've seen them live too. Powerful stuff. One of (if not the) my favorite bands.

 

Tool are okay. Lateralus is pretty good and Aenima had its moments, but I hate how their fans worship them and shit. I mean 10,000 Days was pretty fucking terrible. The only decent songs on that were 10,000 Days and Jambi.

They were the band I listened to pretty much every time I got high for about the first 10 times I smoked. Back when I was a freshman in high school we would sit in my friend's car in front of his house (in a cul-de-sac) and blaze to Lateralus and Aenima. We would always end up half asleep and completely stoned, just laying back and wrapped up completely in the music. I even had crazy closed eye visuals. Good memories.

 

I started off with that opinion, but I couldn't resist prodding the fanboys.

 

OMFG, lets not start this bull shit again man, I may be a tool fan... but I like them the same as I like Timothy Leary or weed, think of it this way: smart band with good music and never a bad show, or some whinny bitch like Axel Rose leaving during shows acting like a ass sucker. Some Tool fans are probably complete losers, just like there has to be some fundamentalists kid who isn't a retard.

Im sure you dont need another opinion on tool... but Il give you mine anyway.

Tool are good, origonal- there metal but dont act like every other metal band headbanging and stupidly fast andstuff.

But they can be very boring. I dont think ive ever listened to a tool song and not skipped it halphway through. It like "great, now that youve showed us you can make a song with 5/4 and 13/4 time signatures- what else are you going to do to impress me?"
For example the song Schism, a good riff but its pretty much the only riff in the song.

 

Many people are fans of Tool cuz they are intelligent, I think that to them it doesnt matter what you think... They do it for them, they dont care if MTV wont show their video, cuz the people who care enough to be worth something wont mind going over to the store to get it.

 

MTV don't want to show their videoclips? Why not, they're quite popular right?

I agree with you that they can be boring. Only a few songs of theirs I can listen to at anytime: The Grudge, The Patient, H., and Pushit Live. Otherwise I have to be in the mood. But concerning their time signatures, Tool does absolutely nothing unique in that department. If you're looking for complicated time signatures and a rhythmically talented band, listen to Meshuggah's Catch 33 or I. Actually I'll say this as much as possible, listen to Catch 33. Its an album but it's played as one track.

 

I dislike it when people say "I hate people who sit there and worship them" or whatever (or about any other thing). I don't consider myself as a "worshipper" of them, but I do think they're amazing and when people say that it makes me feel stupid or like I'm wrong. Am I wrong for thinking they're amazing or powerful?

This is along the lines of the "worshiping" I was referring to. I mean if thats true and Tool/APC are all you listen to, then thats pretty boring. Exclusively listening to any one or two bands regardless of who they are is boring. I can understand being like that right after an album came out or something, but its much more satisfying to find new music and mix it up. Or even better start a band. Shit, they've been a band together since like 1992 and they only have 5 albums: Opiate, Undertow, Aenima, Lateralus, and 10,000 Days. And I like

That post is fucking altered, dont be an immature brat, I dont listen to them all day everyday, if I did then yes that would be fucked up... I listen to soo much more then that, listening to stuff from Grateful Dead and Tom Petty and The Who all the way to KoRn and Rob Zombie and Godsmack.
