Yes, please. Maynard's voice is probably the most powerful in any kind of metal. And just how big are his freaking lungs?

TooL.....one of my all time favorite bands. My friends call me "that TooL freak"

Spring of 2006 is when a new album is being released, according to the sticker on their newest DVD release.

My favorite album from them is Opiate. Its short (only 6 songs) but its one of the greatest albums ever to be released ever. IMO.

and APC? Love em, all except for E-motive. Maynard shouldn't do covers of other people's songs. Even the ones he covered while doing TooL were less than ideal to me.

I can't stand them...... boring up their arse arty farty nonsense. I saw them support Ozzy and download a couple of years back and it was like the longest hour of my life.

I think it was more like fulfilling contract obligations. most bands do something like that, just to get out of a contract, to fill up the last required album they need to make. RATM did that a few years ago, and then APC too, and I heard APC is breaking up, so that makes sense. I mean, if you were in a rock band, and you had a contract with a music company to where you had to do another album to get out of it, wouldnt you just half-assed throw something together too?? an album of all covers usually will do the trick, or a greatest hits compilation with a couple new songs.... it would be easy to put together.

anyways, thats beside the point. I actually like maynard's versions of other people's material. its usually more melancholic and surreal than the original versions. no quarter and silly love songs were great.

I adore Tool, with passion and intensity. Danny Carey is one of the most talented people ever. MJK is such a..character ye know? Seems larger than life, when in actual fact..hehe.

And Adam Jones is a ledge, and Justin. Apparently,"Tool are touring Europe Summer 2006,with Opeth."

    Imagine. That.

maynard is like my fucking god. everything that man says is so profound and deep and he just sings it with such an amazing voice that it blows my fucking mind. i would kill for a chance to see them in concert. i hear they put on one hell of a show.
i love apc too. that music has more like a calm and peacefull quality to it. i think thirteenth step is their best album.
emotive sounds terrible. but that was made really fast and it was all about maynards hatred for bush. thats why he released it on election day. he thinks that working for peace is a futile effort and the world is already fucked and nothing we can do will fix it. peace is destroyed, and won't come back for many generations to come. corporations own everything and human life is meaningless to those who lust for power. man doesn't controll his world, money does. the was what emotive was all about. but ther music still sucked.

YOUR ALL PUTTING DOWN E-MOTIVE BECAUSE THERE COVER SONGS, AND ITS DIFFERENT,BUT THE IMAGINE COVER OF JOHN LENNON IS GREAT,AND LIKE Annihilation IS ALSO FUCKING GREAT, LISTEN TO IT, ALL TOGETHER ITS NOT AS GOOD AS THE OTHERS, BUT ITS STILL A GOOD WELL THOUGHT OUT ALBUM,GIVE IT A FUCKIN BREAK!

This is the closest to the proper thread to post this in. Wiki says it's progressive metal, but oh well..

This is actually false. I confirmed Bob Dylan was God in a k-hole.

Good job bumping this thread Justin Hale. I always enjoy talking about Tool but am not hardcore enough to invent my own thread for them. Aenima is probably my favorite album overall but Lateralus has some of their best songs imo. The title track, Parabol/Paraboloa and The Grudge never get old to me and I love the progression and emotion of those songs.

I saw them in 06 at Coachella, the day before 10,000 days came out, amazing live act especially on that kind of a stage.

    Hey querillabedlam.

Actually, I've never even heard anything else from them. I saw this vid on late night mtv, or Bevis and Butthead and was hooked on it. Killer song and vid.

Before i got my first pc i would go buy an album (later the cd) just for the one song i liked. Then if i was lucky, there might be a song or two more on the album that were good. In the early 70s i shopped for single 45s. I've been like that forever.

I will check out more Tool now that i can preview for free on youtube. A singles shopper is a hard habit to break!

You can 'preview' everything for free on the internet. ;) You don't pay for single mp3's right?

Yes, i do pay for them. Been paying 98 cents a piece too. But not because of the law. How else do the bands get paid besides concerts, and t-shirt sales?

I wouldn't like my music given away for free. I don't know how youtube works exactly, but i have seen vids stripped of music because they didn't have permission to use it. And four of my faves are just gone now.
