You ever have a pack of 15 gang members in the alley outside your house looking to hospitalize a few of your friends just because they were friends with the wrong person?

    How would you prevent it?
    I did.

Life in the US after decades of appeasing the NRA and its thugs. As they say, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

The NRA doesn't expect different results. They see the gun murders as the price we have to pay for our "freedom".

The Clutter family murders in Kansas in 1959 was a shocking incident in its day. The Charles Starkweather and Carol Fugate rampage in 1958 was also a shocking series of events. You see, these type of horrendous murders did not happen that much back then. They were front page , almost unbelievable incidents then. And rare. Some people say that it has always been thus, but I'm here to tell you that modern American society has deteriorated so much that it's almost unrecognizable to an old guy that been around since 1939. Humans have always killed one another for various reasons, but this modern day scourge of unreasonable , unjustified killiing is totally out of control, exacerbated by politicians that don't give a shit about people being able to wield weapons of war against anyone that offends them over --nothing of circumstance. The social structure that kept people in check, is pretty much gone. Now in several states ANYONE can carry a concealed weapon with no background check and no firearm training! In addition, people like Trump ( and especially like Trump) have cast aside any respect for fellow citizens in our social discourse and are seemingly hell bent on destroying any semblance of a bygone era that at least held the worst of us in check. Even our system of government is now under threat from right wing fucks that somehow believe that the sooner we can get back to running this country how THEY want it to run--the great mass of us should just shut the fuck up and let them pass ridiculous laws that help no one except themselves and the super rich--no wonder people are sick and tired and on edge with the political class, which now seems to translate into gunning our neighbors down . Don't know how this country is going to heal its self up--it's only getting worse day by day. And yes--it was different back then. In my opinion, the only way to begin the healing process is to vote out ALL republicans and put those that have steadily been ( and are) trying to ruin this country --including trump--right in jail.

And now a gunman in a Texas mall killed 8 and wounded 7.

Then, also in Texas, a man in an SUV plowed into a crowd of migrants, killing 8 and injuring 11. Authorities say the driver is being "uncooperative."

You could place bets on it (if you're sick in the head). Will there be a massacre today? If there is you win! Bonus question: how many will be killed in it? Get that right and double your money!

Holy shit, what has happened to the human race?

The only way to stop these killings is to vote out every son of a bitch who supports unlimited gun ownership, tactical gear, hate, and the present gun culture.

Most countries would not have waited this long and all firearms would have been banned, with a mandatory turn in.

There is a serious problem in the US regarding firearms.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary of the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

The first part refers to the beginnings of a national guard in each state, and a Federal armed forces under Federal control. It is not clear if the second part refers to the first part or, if actually states that all people have the right "to keep and bear Arms."

Back in Colonial times a firearm was a tool like an axe or shovel, and it was for hunting and defense. The push into the interior was fraught with danger. So firearms were part of any Colonial person's tool kit. Of course firearms over time became more sophisticated and technology has brought deadlier firearms today.

Owning firearms requires special responsibility. I own firearms myself. I practice at the local gun range. Yet, responsibility includes security, key and combination security, and having physical posession of a firearm when it is not locked up. That does not mean putting the gun in a drawer, or on top of the china cabinet. Physical possession is having it on you at all times until locked in a safe. Responsibility includes strict safety, knowing how to take apart, and marksmanship.

Also, alcohol and guns do not mix.

The gun culture unfortunately in the US has become an out of control entity and if serious steps are not taken that precious Second Amendment may, one day, be cancelled, abolished. Those who are against serious gun control may actually bring the demise of the Second Amendment itself, eventually.

No need to do anything to the second, the right to bear arms outside of a governmental militia was not granted by the supreme court until 2008 in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller.

All we need is a reversal of Heller to allow the fed, states, and local municipalities to enact sensible gun laws.
