Thanks for that. I like debating here, because it educates me as well. I damn sure am not educating anyone else, because nobody wants to listen.

btw, in government as other things, it's not the size that matters, it's what you do with it

i and many in this forum would like to see more cooperation, you prefer competition

competition killed the dinosaurs - here's to history repeating itself!

I do like cooperation, but yes competition is good. What I definitely don't like is competition with the government. You are correct in saying that what the government does is more important than the size. But we've already discussed how what the government does is wasteful, unwanted by many, often unnecessary and outside the boundaries of the constitution.

Cooperation and also compassion are definitely good, and they are both part of the conservative philosophy. But, like I said before, conservatism allows you to do it your way, not the way mandated by the government.

I think we need a black president. It's time for one. I feel the only way we can show the world that America can get past the race crap is when we have a black president that can actually amount to something.

Friends told me that's why they voted for Obama. Except to date Obama has not accomplished anything himself. On top of that Alan Keyes is a hell of a lot blacker than Obama ever will be even if Obama bathes in a vat of coal tar.
Keyes has experience. Obama doesn't have diddly squat.

We need more then an effective president, we need a congress and senate that are more worried about doing right by this country. By that I mean representatives that want to fix things here rather then the plumbing in Iraq or building roads in Afghanistan. I don't remember the exact figures but I know we spent millions buying new garbage trucks for Iraq.

Has anyone went to the site http://www.opencongress.org/ and looked at what these people do all day, they, publish time lines or minutes of what happens everyday and example being 9:45 to 11:30 debated and voted to say thank you to Joe Smuck for growing his wheat in north south rows rather then east west, of course that's exaggerated but when you check it more time is spent on things like that then business important to this country.

We need a government that can open their eyes to the fact that other countries have their own way of doing things and don't want the United States pushing our policies down their throats. We need to fix our house and use that as an example of what can be done.

We have so many things that need to be fixed here, schools, roads, bridges, dams, the electrical grid and many other things.

How can we preach humanitarian rights and personal freedoms when we have one of the largest prison populations in the world.

I'll stop preaching for now, but do you see where I'm going with all of this?
