    Haha yea agreed :p

I've always had my now bf to talk to and fall back on for everything really for 6 years. He left my secondry school ( from 11 years old to 16) when we were 13, didnt talk then but I got his email from someone who had it, and we've been talking ever since ^^ He has always been there for me, and although he really liked me when I had me ex-boyfriends he still talked to me ( I didnt know he liiked me :S otherwise /i wouldnt have gone out with those other guys!)!

In my head I think I take him for granted a little, cus he has aaalways been there, but I just remind myself of what I've put him through and I'm trying to be the most awesomest friend and gf I can be because of it :) On msn now I'm thanking him for being so awesome xD He is like wtf xD *Sigh* I miss him :( He likes 100 miles and a £40-£70 4 hour train journey away :(

And my other awesomely best friend moved up north too to live with her bf, now we rarely speak :(

But ahh well, I'd better stop talking otherwise I'll start rambling about stuff that'll make me cry xD *Sigh* hehe

Oh yea forgot this thread was about natural/non natural hehe xD

I can never see myself undoing my dreads to wait for them to dread up themselves, they all have their own little personality and if I un do the dread the little personality is dead :(

I've put so much patience and heart into my dreads and I couldn't bare to see one all brushed out and lingering xD I hate the feel of undread hair now lol :p

And anyway, I chose backcombing for my own personal reasons instead of natural.. Can't argue with that lol

I have no regrets about the way I started my locks except for using rubberbands and flipping one lock once. I used the DHHQ kit successfully and it greatly accelerated the time it would take to have locks compared with neglect. As for "natural" whose to say my locks aren't natural? I only backcombed and used product for the first 6 months to get them started. Everything that grew out after the initial backcombing knotted all on its own. To those who backcombed, do you feel that your hair is in anyway unnatural?

I feel its more liek I returned it to its natural state, straight conditioned combed hair is unatural eek! (jk, no offence)
what do you mean flipping one lock once?

By flipping I mean, taking the tip, sticking it through the roots, and pulling it through. Does nothing but weaken that part of the lock.

Only because of the fact that I take care not to let them congo too much. I have two congos, I'm pretty careful not let them congo any more than that, I would, but my girlfriend gets grossed out by congos :( I can assure you my hair would be looking quite organic by now if I hadn't been ripping apart. most of the back of my hair was congoing a few years ago, and my girlfriend lost the plot when she saw it:p

    And yours are amazing!!!!

    To answer your question...hell no.
I began mine 6 months ago and when I did the back underneath was too short to back comb, I had a swing bob that I was letting grow out. Those hairs that were too short are not about 5 inches long and havent done shit!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still stick straight!!!! Im gonna back comb the lil bastards today.

I think we need more real world dready icons on this board, to offer an alternate opnion to the ones that get repeated over and over, Braying donkey is one such person, its refreshing to have someone who shares more in common with other dready avenues than just the "natural" way

    Yes it is.

Man when I first joined I was afraid to ask any real questions about my method...knew it would lead to 100 pages of how I'm going to hell.

Also kind of shows that the backcomb/wax method does not mean you are gonna cut your locks off in 2 years...isnt that what was said??????
    Rock on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just had a memory too about the wax in my hair and how "it'll never come out ever!" Why is it when I was using wax that cleaning my bathtub was a god damn pain because there was wax in the bathtub? I never took a shower in 140F water....how oh how did it ever come off of my hair then?

When my friend Bryn died in a car accident, I cut off one of my locks in memory of him and threw it on his bonfire. Now, over two years later, I have one all natural dread growing. It doesn't look any different from my backcombed dreads.

No, not really. It's flatter than the rest, probably 'cause it's located on the back of my head. No real visible differences though....

Do you think the initial batch of hair that you begin locking with gets a different/better texture than the new growth, because it's got greater length and movement for making all the loopies ?

Ummm, no. My natural dread has some cool loops goin' on. I can't seem to find much if any difference between my natural dread and my backcombed dreads.

my dreads have tonnes of loops and they weren't 'natural' to some. thats a realli nice idea to sacrifice one of your dreads.

It has been a healing process. As my Bryn dreads grows, I heal and get stronger, but I will never forget him.
