to say that most kids with downs syndrome are born to younger women is misleading, in so far as there are usually more younger women having children a woman who is 45 or older is twenty-five times as likely to have a child with downs syndrome than a woman who is 20 it's still rare though, regardless of age
it's harder and sometimes impossible for an older woman to get pregnant. beyond the issues of getting pregnant, the rates of birth defects/illness are much higher in children born to older women I think that feminists have tried really hard to encourage/push women to focus on developing careers rather than having children. Along with that has come a certain amount of bullshit rhetoric disguising the difficulties and risks in having a child at an older age. older women can get pregnant and have children, or for what ever reason not have children or prioritize other things. however, the problems related to pregnancies in older women are not simply "constructs" created by men to oppress women men maintain potency longer than women retain fertility. there can still be health problems when men father children at an older age, but there are greater problems when older women try to have children
Science has helped mitigate this gap though with Invetro (spelled wrong) Fertilization treatments, along with the availability surrogate mothers. But still this costs $. (sidenote: And ironically enough, this scientific treatment because of how it works, is another reason I can't support anti-abortion legislation because it impacts services like these for couples wanting biological kids)
Sorry, did you read all of my post, I basically agree with you.~ Though you focus on it in more detail than I did.~
I think that you said something about women becoming more fragile as they get older the part about feminist rhetoric was not directed at you or any poster in particular the point is that many women have been led to have unrealistic expectations about pregnancy and childbirth as they age
