while there is some merit in the concept of time being illusionary, there is more merit in the idea that all of reality is living in some sense...that everything has free will and as we (life) encountered one another a pattern emerged, time is the observation that those patterns change from moment to moment
The buffer effect vs the butterfly effect. One could equally say that while you can't change the present by traveling into the past, you can particpate in the past that defines the present
But it still has a source. You. It ALL comes back to you. The universe, knowledge, time itself. You created them. You project it in front of you. You dwell within it. You call it real. Until you discover the truth. x
ok so i assume time is meaningless, that the order of experience is superfluous to the real force of nature. AND YET
The individual is as responsible as the collective, our disagreement is desired by both of us. We yern to experience one another. So, while time is irrelevent, it is desired. We are fair and as such time is considered
i can call time the period in between comments on this thread a unit of time, and relative to the sky going from black to blue to black again that is a unit of time....time is a rate of action compared to another rate of action and your actions are your choosing, to believe time is meaningless is to believe action is meaningless
When trains were first invented, everyone said the human body would disintegrate if it travelled at such high speeds as 50 mph. So travelling that fast was thought to be impossible. Just because we in the early 21st century cannot concieve of how time-travel can be possible, does not mean it is impossible.
oh i don't actually believe its impossible, just wrong because it breaks free will...ie it permits choices to be unmade, and i believe reality is based on fundamental agreements accumulating all the energy that is needed to revert to an earlier state..or to put it another, convince the heavens that you should be allowed to, and another way, tap into arcane energies to break the will of reality tangent reality..which fortunately need not be as large scale...you could live out the 60's inside an atom for all we know. theres quite a bit of reference to the invention of a marker...making a scar in timespace that we can jump back to, and how those scars will eventually heal. This sounds like a time loop, I get the feeling that as events passed through the rip, the distance between the opening and the end would shrink...eventually destroying all time between the rips opening and its eventual closing.
in the beginning of time people prayed to the sun. few hundred years ago we thought the world was flat few decades ago we thought going straight up would take you into heaven now we KNOW time travel isnt possible? There's logic for you. Because knowledge was incomplete 500 years ago, that proves that nothing we've learned since is correct. If it's possible to travel in time, why aren't we constantly being visited by people from the future? And why is it that people are so willing to believe the most preposterous crackpot ideas, but smugly won't accept things that have been rigorously proved a thousand times over?
No matter how many times we say it, people will come and post "where are they then?". I might start a new thread, beginning with my time-travel theory.
Before trains were invented, people thought the human body couldn't survive travelling at fifty mph. Before the telephone was invented, your mobile phone would have been considered a crackpot idea. The internet, microwave ovens, space exploration, robots, nuclear power, and so forth. There was time when none of them had even been thought of, and maybe they were all crackpot ideas too.
it just sounds so damn expensive...and something that will never be as simple as a modification to a iconic car. no one has actually argued its possibility outside of saying its impossible until the machine is invented...
