the doctor said that considering how overactive my thyroid was, that i am right on schedule for getting it balanced. my doc doesn't know i smoke, but it doesn't seem to do any harm. some of my side effects from medication are expected (weird numbness, muscle spasms that feel like rolling, etc) and totally normal, and none of my symptoms/ side effects correspond to smoking or being high. i can be sober sitting on the couch, doing yoga, cooking or high on the computer, and im no more or less likely to have a twinge, spasm, or palpitation.
but thyroid problems are a bitch. my system was overtaxed by twins, and my thyroid never got back to normal. i basically let it get worse for 2 years, and then had someone pay for me to get treated. family and guilt, hooray! my metabolism was so high that i ate all day and couldn't feel full. didn't gain any weight, and simply wasn't healthy. now my heart still races so fast that i can't do light exercises without being winded, and they can't do anything to check my heart until after my thyroid is leveled out.
