There just people, think about it this way. If you work at a restaraunt and theres a sign that says wash your hands and you dont wash your hands that would be breaking a rule. That would be the same thing as a cop not arresting someone for smoking weed. Both are pointless rules but they have to be done. Well actually washing your hands is important but you get the point.
Yeah I hate that shit too. Nothing pisses me off more than seeing a cop driving 15mph over the speed limit without his blue lights on. If they caught me driving 15mph over the speed limit, I'd have to pay hundreds of dollars for a speeding ticket.
So you basically just said that people SHOULD get arrested for smoking weed. Some rules shouldn't be rules.
exactly. i have no problem with a cop doing his job.. i wouldn't want my tax dollars going to some lousy incompetant cops.. i mean i'm sure there are cops who think making weed illegal is stupid but they don't have a choice if its what they're being paid to do. i'd hate it if someone tried to bitch at me about how to do my job. the only problem i have with cops is when they think they can do whatever they want just because they're cops.. like your speeding example.
No I'm saying its part of the cops job to arrest someone for weed. Its a stupid law, but it's still a law.
That's the point though. Cops should be able to realize what laws people should and shouldn't be arrested for breaking. They should think for themselves and use their own objectivity, as opposed to arresting someone who is smoking a little bit of weed and not hurting anyone. Instead, they arrest people just because someone they don't even know passed a law saying that we shouldn't smoke weed. Only a weak bitch would allow someone else to make their decisions for them and tell them what's right and what's wrong. I have more respect for a cop who thinks weed is evil and arrests a pothead than I do for a cop who sees no problem with weed, but still arrests a harmless pothead.
Right they shouldn't arrest them then, instead they should just be reminded that there are cops who will arrest them for it so they should do it more discreetly and possibly do it somewhere else. That is still enforcing the law kinda, but that is honestly what should be done. If you aren't doing anything but smoking a little bit of ganja, I mean come on, it is like someone j walking.
im against stupid laws, but i have never had a problem with a cop. sure, it s unfortunate that the law say we are all criminals, but thats the law, and not the cop. sure, some, even many cops are corrupt, but not all. sometimes you need to call the cops and you have to know your rights, but you have to be alright with them for them to be alright with you. when my son died they search the apartment, took notes, and a bag out of the freezer, as is the cops job, but we didn't catch shit for it. we just had to buy more to smoke ourselves into a palpable stupor. cops are ok with me, but im not a dealer or a grower or a trafficer, im just a user. small game. and i live in denver, double bonus. some people are afraid to call the cops, because they are against cops, but when theres an asshole on your lawn with a gun, or a prick digging through your dumpster, cops are needed. a lot of cops are pricks, but some arent. my mom got a warning instead of a ticket because she had a pentacle hanging from her rear view mirror. thats cool. a cop picked my hubby for speeding through a construction zone, when he wasn't speeding, and was passing a tractor trailer. thats not cool. but cops are just people, subject to the same forces, emotions, and contraindictions of self as everyone else. and thank you so much, OP for bringing an old nightmare back to life, all i need is fucking american history x on top of the other god forsaken nightmares.
On the whole though, by definition people who are smart and open minded wouldn't join the police because people who are smart and open minded realise that enforcing things they don't agree with and are illogical is like banging your head against a wall- it's masochistic.. To quote Dickens (or Mr Bumble) " The law is an ass". I like to give the police the benfit of the doubt most of the time and you can have 10 encounters with the police where they're ok but all it takes is that 1 bastard to piss you off all over again with the whole lot of them and make you more resentful towards the police in day to day life. I had a very surreal one with an off duty police officer at a psychedelic trance party last night though, she was in her mid 40s, seemingly off her tits on a substance of some variety and very touchy with me and trying to pick me up I think. I asked her to buy me a beer and then gave her a peck on the cheek and disappeared onto the dancefloor.. I know she was really a cop because I asked her to show me her warrant card as I didn't believe her at first when we were smoking a cigarette outside.. Bizarre, I didn't know cops liked psychedelic trance heh..
I think its ridiculous how you can go in your med cabinet and od or inhale paint can fumes or whatever and its legal but is far worse for you than pot If paint fumes were made illegal, it would be the new generation drug The US has a bad outlook on drug use that focuses on the negatives, on punishment In the Netherlands they preach good health and weed is legal, you dont have dumbasses trying themselves, they know their limits, they take care of themselves Use, dont abuse In germany and other areas alcohol is legal for >16 year olds, does that mean they all get shitfaced at parties and raging alcoholics like in the US? no... We don't need the government making decisions for us The solution to all of this is pretty simple 1. target the distributors, no the users Make meth, coke and heroin distribution on any level life in prison or death penalty (sounds harsh but you will see what im getting at) 2. Weed needs to be legal and be clear (truthful) in effects and warnings The gateway term is flawed for many reasons; -someone that is likely to try one drug is likely to try another such as shrooms, this is not cause and effect, merely a correlation -other reasons 3. massive scale rehabilitation for current drug users with 6 month to get clean, (check yourself into rehab unless you want to live in prison the rest of your life)
cops scare the shit out of my when i driving, and some off them are assholes, but without them things would not be to good!
I think we can all agree that the current laws concerning Marijuana are bogus. As most of us know they were put in place for the wrong reasons but that it is currently against the law. The government puts out so much propaganda that most people don't know any better. I think that we can also agree that the police serve a function in our society. I don't know about you but I know I would want to call the cops if someone was fucking with me. We have the police for a reason and that is to provide protection and help when the public needs it. I will go out on a limb and say there are those that go a little to far and take their jobs a little to seriously but can't we all say that is true everywhere we go. I know that I have worked with people who felt that their job was their life and would not be willing to listen to what you had to say on the subject because they thought they knew more than you. Yes, it is a job and they are doing their job. Yes, it was their choice to be police officers, but don't you often make choices that you might regret later? No one is perfect but I don't think there is any cop out there who said when they wanted to be a cop they did so for the sole reason to bust people who smoked weed. If there was then that person was just ill informed. People become cops because they want to help people and want to do some good in the world. I think of them as modern day knights. They only want to help people. I know a few cops and I like them all as friends. Do I tell them I smoke weed? No. I have however had conversations with them about the law and it all boils down to the fact that it is currently against the law to smoke and have weed so they have to uphold the law. Believe it or not the police do have the ability to make decisions of their own but if you had to deal with people everyday who just hated them because of what they do I think that you would have a different attitude. If you treat a cop with respect he will treat you with respect. If you call him a "pig" and expect him to treat you with respect then you are mistaken. I am sure that, just life every other human being, that you will look at some kid with a pot t-shirt, long hair and pants hanging down you ass you will come to the conclusion that they might be a pot smoker. So they might treat you a little different. How you look and act will reflect on others and how you are treated as well. Now, the last thing I will say is that there are bad cops and they give good cops a bad name but their are also bad guys who smoke and sell weed that give people like us a bad name as well. I don't think you guys walk around saying "I'm a bid old pot smoker!" but if you did then that is what people will think of you as. Perception is the key.
hired goons paid less than they deserve. gangsters on the other side of the line. folks who didn't do well in school and must sell their muscle to get by.
1. sniffing paint (or other fumes) to get high IS illegal. 2. marijuana IS illegal in the netherlands and the laws there are very convoluted and backwards. its just as illegal as anywhere else, only tolerated (to an extent)
well i guess you whould have to consider that there not showing any emotions towards you weather it be anger or being happy or what have you there faking it for there job so the choice is actually theres to do as they please so i guess that whould make a person a peice of shit towards what he wants to do there front face is all for the job
anyone with the least interest in this subject owes it to themselves to watch this interview with a very intelligent prisoner on death row.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37u3sPHjrro
Well cops get to uphold the law, and all of us know when we have pot on us we're breaking the law. Also if you take the country as a whole, all parts of it, generally you could say it's about 50/50 for people who think pot should at least be decrminalized and those who think it should be illegal. Now you have to think a police force would have to be that, and because it's a police force, probably a good deal of people more who generally believe marijuana is bad and would want you arrested even if they weren't cops. Think of all the times someone has been let go, or just had their weed taken and bowl smashed. The vast majority of us live in the states where it's illegal and arrestable to go to jail for any amount of weed. In the mean time write congress
