Well, there won't be a major update for a while. The doc says it is going to take a couple of months to heal up properly. Until then, I will have limited lung function. They knocked down the pneumonia with antibiotics, but there is still some left. It is slowly clearing, but in the meantime, it is preventing the lung from fully re-inflating. They are going to do a CT scan in a couple of weeks to see how it is going. Between the residual pneumonia and the reduced capacity, I am short of breath when exercising. It is not much fun, but I am at least going in the right direction. I check my oxygen level frequently, using an oximeter, so I'll see quickly if I have a relapse. So far, the numbers have been getting gradually better. "Gradually" being the operative word. In the meantime, my muscles are weak from three weeks in bed. But I can't strengthen them because I don't have the oxygen to exercise. So I am getting fat. Argh!
Carry on. trooper. When I had my pneumonia/congestive failure/flu episode, I would make mental notes of where my oximeter readings were and how my mind was working at different times. In the high 80s, I got some dandy hallucinations in the wallpaper! Middle 80s got a little weird. Back in the mid 90s, no real problems. Flex your feet and calves a lot, press your heels and legs down hard on the bed to keep tone in the gluteals. There are things one can do just to keep tone without getting sob Keep in touch w/us. --- OGN
'Our' Kathy needs building up to ward off the virus and re-inflate her lungs properly. As well as the daily tot of BRANDY, I prescribe lots of healthy food - steak & Kidney suet puddings, Sausage 'toad in-the-hole', Liver & Bacon casserole, Beef stew and dumplings, Roast Pork (with lots of crispy crackling), roast tatties, and appropriate veg and gravy. For 'pudding' - lots of steamed suet pudding with golden syrup poured over it, or Rhubarb crumble & custard, or fruit pie and custard/icecream.
I appreciate the good intentions, VI, but I think I'll limit it to the brandy, and maybe the rhubarb crumble! That other stuff would cause a relapse, I think!
Far from it Kathy darlin' - since you need building up, lots of suet dumplings and puddings is just what the Doctor orders !!!
I've been vegan for 35+ years. I doubt if I have the stomach enzymes to even digest that stuff any more.
