I agree, in reality there is very little free speech on this site, especailly if you dont hold the same views as the majority of people on this site. Thankfully I do happen to think the same way as most people here, but I feel bad for those who dont since they take alot of flack from alot of pretend free speech activists. We need a more balanced view around here, because lets face it everyone is going to hold different views and they need to be present for free speech to actaully exist. "No one you can save that can’t be saved." Just remember that you should try to make them see your view, but if they dont it shouldnt matter because they will never understand your view, and prehaps vica versa. An open dialogue is the key for this site to keep with its motto.

I am in full ageement with justmeagain as well as Tuk Tuk. This forum is VERY close minded and restrictive. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Don't get me wrong here. It just shouldn't be tauted as a "free speach forum". That, in of itself, is very misleading. I guess my point is illustrated by the fact that justmeagain has been banned after posting this thread and with only 8 posts under his belt! Ha! Ha! Oh well.

 

Like crummyyummy said waaaay back on page three. The only real expectation of free speech in life is in your own home. LOL @ alotta you folks! You don't get banned for having a different view. You might catch heat, but where in life don't you for holding different viewpoints? Especially in a venue thats sole point is to post a viewpoint...can't walk away and change the subject like, how 'bout that weather..hehe. And for the newbie, bawgs, The guy had already been banned, and to come back in is just a ban evasion. Whatever started , happened way before this thread and this thread is nothing but a bitch session IMHO about his original ban and to start shit. The expectations for free speech here is reasonable. I'm sure there's a person here and there that does get banned that maybe shouldnt have, and from what I've seen over the years, they usually get back in, just go thru proper channels and don't be an asswipe. Yeah, theres rules..if there wasn't it would be anarchy and no damn fun to hang out here. This place is alot less restrictive and alot more tolerant than most places I've seen. If yer catching heat in one forum...maybe thats not the right one for you...plenty to choose from. if someone is flaming you, that is covered in the guidelines... maybe some of you should read them (its in the drop down on forum options) I don't see anything unreasonable about them. And theres still the option...don't hang here if yah don't like it, lol~*

Bullshit! You get banned if enough people don't like your POV and complain about it. It's just a matter of majority rules in the forums. I would be dead now without pot. I have a medical condition that smokin pot helps greatly. I am a teacher or was before I moved and I have never been in trouble with the law or anything. I smoke pot and thats a fact. I have no trouble with people who don't agree with me but PLEASE!!!!! don't preach to us about free speech you obviously have no idea about anyone who comes to this forum really. We are a very wide range of people from many walks of life with similar mind sets. If you don't like it plain and simple leave!!!!! Its called Hip Forums for a reason think about it!!!!!

As for banning I know there may have been a few linchings but most people have deserved to be banned for bein' nasty to others or just plain doin nothing but flamin'. I do not think the Admins do it just because they can. I personally have seen one person banned for just plain bein a nasty jerk to many people and bein' just what I would call plain rude. Have an opinion but you don't need to knock others down while you do it.

This place may be for hippies, or at least hippie theamed, but i think most people on here actually object to the title "Hippy". should we silence all those non-hippies? who would be the non-conformist then? I just think the forums should be more inclusive and, dare i say, loving.
